well... its a good-looking phone... but seriously, filipino/asian phones can outdo an american phone, even an iPhone. they dont even have video-calling yet. with all its limitations, id rather stick to my SE...

i have been getting a lot of PMs and offline msgs at yahoo offering an iPhone for as low as 16T. thats just crazy.

OT:

there is a reason why the american market is prone to low-end phones compared to other markets particularly the asian market. one reason is that under US cellphone regulations, a cellular network requires a customer to sign in a contract (non-prepaid). the wireless network provides the customer a bunch of phones to choose at, which in return, gives the customer limited choice when it comes to cell phone purchase.

the two cellular giants in the US---Verizon Wireless and AT&T, are two very different networks. AT&T uses GSM (like that in Asia) and Verizon uses (i forgot how it's called). anyway, whenever a new high-tech phone comes up, cellular companies like Nokia or Motorola would have to make TWO kinds of network for the same type of phone model, one specifically made for Verizon (non-GSM) and one for AT&T (GSM). in a market and business sense, this obviously leaves the US market far behind its Asian counterparts.

i just read an article about this a long time ago, can't find it now. but yeah, just an info. anybody can correct me regarding this. feel free.

No, there are actually 4 giant wireless carriers in the US... Sprint-Nextel, Verizon.. (all using CDMAs), Tmobile and ATT-Cingular


Plus in the Midwest States, they have some small wireless carriers as well such as Alltel and Suncom, Cellular South (CDMAs still)

i'm completely aware of that because i myself used to be a Sprint-Nextel customer. i'm only giving an example for CDMAs and GSM networks; Verizon and AT&T by the way are the two "largest" network in terms of the number of customer it generates. anyway, thanks for the info.
