I saw the latest video ni Anderson where he said that the mood and the situation in Tacloban is finally seeing a shift and improvement with the arrival of several hundred more US Marines. The US marines, with Gen. Kennedy at the helm, managed to get Tacloban airport up and running, so planes and goods are finally pouring in. A couple more US helicopters arrived, along with planes from other countries, so the situation is improving.

While I'm so so so grateful to the Americans for everything, where's our government in all this? While we are not rich, we are a nation of 98 million people. What we do have is manpower. So many Filipinos are willing and eager to volunteer. At the behest of the president, I'm sure millions would not even think twice to help out in the relief and cleanup efforts in Tacloban and other hard-hit areas, wala lang sila own resources to do so. Asa naman ang millions of aid from other countries, mao unta ni gamitan sa kuarta oi, Pnoy! MR President, gipasagdan naman lang intawon nimo ang mga Amerkano maoy nangunay ug lihok didto sa Tacloban. Paka uwaw man lang ka Pnoy oi!

Anyway, my takeaway from Anderson's latest video was, and here's my thought on this --- mas maayo pa si Gen Kennedy nalang presidente sa Pilipinas.

The so-called government SHOULD be ashamed with this. US pa ang ni lihok while our president is busy making televised statements and showing off his bald arse sa mga international interviews blaming LGUs when he is the commander in chief? Maayo nalang wala ko mo botar anang opawa, I'm proud wala ko mo botar anang amawa.

I mean Pinoy's response to the CNN interview.. it's all nonsense.

True, true. I was watching the interview and i changed the channel.. I can't stand that guy blaming his incompetency on the LGUs and boasting that "everything is okay now" chit. Pina ingon pa nga gi limpyohan na daw sa DPWH ang mga karsada pero ang report ni Failon daghan pa major roads sa Tacloban ang dili maagian.

Dili daw sila kalihok kay walay comms to tell them what are needed by the people affected.

Hoy noynoy pagmata na kaha. Wala kay pangutok? Common sense tells us that basic needs like food and water and ensuring the safety of the people from anarchy are needed ASAP. And you're waiting to be told that? F.U.

I voted for this imbicile and I am sorry to those affected that I helped put this man on the seat he is in now.

He isn't even worthy to be called a man kay bata ug pangisip, walay common sense, let alone govern a country. Damn.

I really don't understand why communication has to be established before help can be dispatched.. It's the fact that Tacloban was flattened and many dead people are on the streets and so many survivors doesn't have anything to eat enough to dispatch help?

instead, walay usa nga nasugdan. ang mga gipangdonate sa mga silingan nga isla wala pa nakaabot didto. kaluoy na sa mga tao didto.

Voted for Gordon. Taas ta ko icomment pero ako ra isummarize as "our govt is a piece of shit".

U.S. Brigadier General Paul Kennedy, who is leading a group of U.S. Marines on the ground in Tacloban, said that the "entire Pacific Command" will respond to the crisis". The George Washington carrier group has arrived in the Leyte Area and a second strike group in route to Hawaii from the US west coast is on standby if needed."

Sounds like he is more concerned than the Philippine government on the magnitude of these crisis.

Pres. Aquino: PH ready to face SuperTyphoon ‘Yolanda’

MANILA, Philippines — President Benigno Aquino III on Thursday assured the public of the government’s readiness to face supertyphoon “Yolanda” which will directly hit Samar and Leyte at midnight.

Aquino said in a televised speech that the country’s C130 aircrafts are fully mission capable to respond to those in need, adding that 32 airplanes and helicopters from the Air Force are on standby together with the Philippine Navy’s 20 ships which are positioned in Cebu, Bicol, Cavite and Zamboanga.

He said that relief goods are also pre-positioned in many of the areas expected to be affected by the supertyphoon.

Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils, both national and local, have also been activated to mitigate the effects of the typhoon.

“Yolanda” is expected to bring winds and rain stronger than “Pablo,” the last supertyphoon to hit the Philippines with wind speeds up to 280 kilometers per hour.

With a 600-kilometer diameter, the storm will most likely hit the provinces of Samar, Leyte, Masbate, Cebu, Panay, Romblon, Mindoro, and Palawan before leaving the Philippine area of responsibility Saturday evening.

Aquino warned the public of strong winds, rain and overflowing of bodies of water, in addition to the possibility of lahar and mudflows near Mayon and Bulusan volcanoes.

“Storm surges in Ormoc, Ginayangan Ragay Gulf in Albay and Lamon Bay in Atimonan will bring grave danger. And waves in these areas may reach up to five to six meters high,” Aquino said.

The President advised Filipinos to monitor the websites of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, Mines and Geosciences Bureau, and Project NOAH to determine which communities will be affected by the storm.

“Let this be a warning to local government units: Your constituents are facing grave danger. Let us do all we can while ‘Yolanda’ has yet to make landfall,” he said.

Aquino asked the public to remain calm and to cooperate.

“Coordinate with and follow authorities. Evacuate if your area is in danger. To those near the shore: do not head towards the open sea,” he said.

Aquino said Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II are in Leyte to supervise preparations when the storm makes landfall in the province.

Did he say 32 planes and 20 Naval ships? Looks the the 32 phantom C-130 cargo planes/Helicopters and navy ships are nowhere to be seen now
