    LABOR ADVISORY NO. 10
    Series of 2013

Payment of Wages for Private Sector Employees Due to Inclement Weather or Natural Calamities

All private sector employers are advised of the following rules for pay on suspension of work due to typhoon "Yolanda" on November 07 and 08, 2013:

    a) If unworked:
    • No pay, unless there is a favorable company policy, practice or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) granting payment of wages on said day; and
    • When the employee has accrued leave credits, he/she may be allowed to utilize such leave so that he/she will have compensation on said days.
    b) If worked:
    • No additional pay is given to the employees but only their salary on said day.
The employers shall ensure the safety of their employees by providing free transportation, food, personal protective equipment and first-aid medicines, as may be necessary.

To alleviate the plight of employees in times of crisis, the employers may provide such extra incentives or benefits to employees who reported for work.

--- I think operations sa mga BPO kay nag padayon man jud during these times and of course mu require jud sila na mu work ang empleyado nila pero I don't think gi bawal pud nila or ila isanction ang employees na maka emergency leave tungod ani na mga calamities if the employee really needs to.

It's quite unfair all companies both public and private should have no work during these days na gi bagyo pero "business as usual" gihapon. ang gihuna huna ra jd sa company ila profit. wala nila hunahunaa ang kaayohan sa employees. tsk.

nakamaot sa BPO wala kailag linog, bagyo, holiday etc..

Our company makes me feel lucky we're allowed to stay home.

Pero wala baya jud ko ni kontra ani na article ha? I love it! Something to make us aware of our rights, pero one thing just popped in my mind pud, I just thought of it wen I was on my way home atung bagyo...... I was riding the car with my bayu, then I saw some NURSES walking on their way to the hospital pud... And to think they have less salary, benefits plus they don't enjoy much perks unlike us dfrom the BPO industry. wala pud sila'y mahems. Luoy kaayo.

Wala lang, it just suddenly made me think. Plus I have friends who are nurses pud, plus I'm supposed to be a nurse but I chose the BPO industry.

One more thing, after what I saw on TV about news on tacloban, I have stopped thinking na na-argabyado ko atung bagyo.

sorry ha? kontrabida mode ra kaayo ko.

^^nurses are needed to save lives, while the employees of bpos goes over time to wipe the asses of arrogant americans. you decide. The bpos justification is all money and profit, while nurses and doctors are there to save lives. you decide.
