    I badly need help...
Let me first discuss my Goal sa ako aquarium... !

    My Reply in blue:

Goal: I'm trying to put up a natural environment for my fishes to grow in and at the same time would look good in our house w/o burning a hole i our pockets. We already have a few equipment, and we hope not to change any of it and work with what we have.

History: Initially we started out with just a tank, filter, lights and plastic plants, but it didn't work out... Nangamatay ako mga fishes and gamay na lang na bilin so we changed it and removed all plastic plants and replaced with live ones... I did a lot of research online because i would like to take it a little further and really create a natural environment for them (This is a great goal to start with - a lot of hobbyist make the mistake of designing tanks before stabilizing the natural environment first) plus my current set up looks ugly so i would like to change it. Pero ako research just led me to a lot of confusion, mostly man good written by foreigners and based on different parameters. So now I just here and found this forum and read a little bit and found that daghan kaayo mga experienced here and are very helpful and also i realized, the best people to ask are people in the same area where i am at kay mostly we share similar conditions in terms of things available to us for our fish tanks. I really really would like to keep my current hood and tank set up and just add, limpyo man gud tanawon and hood.

    My Current Set up:
    Tank: Jebo R362 (Size: 25"L x 16"W x 18"H; Capacity: 20-30 Gal)
    Lighting System: 2 x 20W T8 Florescent
Filtration System: 80 Gal/Hr Top Filter
CO2: Pressurized CO2 1 BPS (This is a bit too much for 20-30 gallon if the tank is still new, and your plants, Anubias N., Java Fern are not compatible with xmas moss in terms of lighting and Co2 needs)
    A Driftwood
Plants: Petite Anubias 'nana' and Java Fern attached to Wood; Moss Wall (1 week old pa) and xmas moss on Artificial Stone Cave
Fish: Lots of small fish mostly tetra and small guppys, Algae Eater, lots of RCS and Gost Shrimp and a Blue Cray Fish (Only eats the dead fish and dli cya eat sa plants as long as full cya and naa green peas which she likes)

    Now my confusion:
Lights, sa ako mga na basa the 3WPG rule daw dli na daw keo mu apply because this rule kay before pa when lights were not that efficient T12 era. And that T8s are now 40% more intense than the T12s but T5s are better and more so are LEDs. But after reading more thoroughly sa ila mga articles i swear i think they are trying to make a spaceship (at least that's how i understand it, libog kaayo for someone who has a simple mind like me). (Identify which plants grow well together, or look for plants that require the same lighting and co2 needs, then decide the right amount of light and co2 it needs: Anubias Nana is undemanding of light while xmass moss will definitely need lots of it. You can check out Tropica.com for easy to understand plant info)So i decided to just make do with what i have and go for plants na low-mid, pero another confusion is some say if mag low to mid ko i don't need CO2 and siesta will do, pro fear of algae sad if wla then if i use pressurized CO basin imba napud? So i would like to ask,ok ra ba pressurized CO2 and will there be a fear for algae or any imbalance and how to handle? Also if really really needed naa ba converter sa T8 to T5 to maybe at least improve my lights?
(Algae blooms or imbalance will happen even on tanks that have been established for years, its what's in the water that will have most influence if your tank will have algae or not. For starters, try to get a ph meter or co2 indicator just so you'll know if your Co2 is enough for the plants to thrive, algae to die and for your fish to live).

To my other Confusion: Substrates, sa mga "designer" soil i've read about only ADA i think is avail here sa cebu, I maybe wrong, pro sa ako na basa daghan sad dli mu advice ani? specially if low tech ra imu tank. Mahal2x ra kuno and magka algae ra. So i went for DIY Substrates, daghan keo mga suggestions of mixes but most of the putting mix dli man avail dri. So I would like to asked dri sa mga experienced, with my goals and current setup i have mo advice ba mo ug ADA Substrates or should i just go with the DIY substrates? If so unsa man sakto na mix of potting soil/Clay/River Sand? and unsa na potting soil?(i've seen daghan sa ace harware and kita sad ko sa white gold) sakto ba ni? Mix clay and Potting soil and top with river sand? (I have not tried soil, and I tried to avoid it because i'm convinced that all the nutrients, metals, substances in the soil will just mix with water in a tank - that is a recipe for algae bloom, plus soil has the tendency to compact and become very hard for plant roots to penetrate into -this is the advantage of pre-made bead substrates,it keeps its form . I have tried a lot of branded substrates and decided to stop wasting my money on testing and just go right to what actually have proven results. May be expensive, but at least it eliminates the trial and error process).
If i missed anything please do add...

Sorry taas2x keo ako suwat, pro i had to make sure i am able to relay my message and provide everyone a clear picture of my problems so it would be easier for everyone to provide me with their suggestions. Thank you all, hope this will be a fruitful hobby...
This hobby is fun because you get to create a small eco-system. In an eco-system one specie benefits another to form a cycle of give and take. If one of the specie does not contribute or cannot thrive in that system, it will naturally perish (tragic but that's how nature is) OR it may destroy the entire system (invasive specie). So in this regard it is my advice that you try to classify the plant and fish species in your tank (you would not place a goldfish with a convict or flowerhorn would you?..just as you would probably want to remove the cray fish with its lunch swimming around it), provide the essential nutrition, equipment to support the setup and transfer the ones which will not fit in your desired setup (good justification to get a new tank).

    Thanks All

@ NelsonP - Thank you for the reply...
That was were I started with, a mistake. Me and my gf decided we need a tank sa house kay we enjoy looking a fishes swimming labi na mga guppy. But when we started puro plastic plants and we didn't even cycle... A lot of fish died, probably sa water condition and also sa plastic plants... This what lead me to do research on tank keeping, perte lisura diay!... But if we want to continue to enjoy looking at them so game! So far I'm having fun I can't say the same for my GF because of the money I’ve spent...lol...
Sa ako CO2 indicator green man cya, dli sad yellow. But before I placed my CO2 perte ka blue cya I think it indicates low CO2, right? But I will play with it to get the right amount...
So I get it now, ang mga low lights na plants should never mix w/ high light and vice versa?
I thinking of upgrading to led high light but still shopping kung aha ko maka barato if dli I might just stick to what I have now... I've noticed most sa high light plants are more vibrant in color mas gwapa tanawon ang plants sa high light... Unless naa ka ma recommend low light na plant na nindot color?

Also I’ve made up my mind I will go sa pre-made substrates, I think ISTA kay cheaper almost half price sa ADA... Hopefully its good... Question, kailangan ba japon ko mu cycle usab sa ako tank when I add my substrate, even if established na ako tank and filter? If so, how long? Parehas ba when starting a new tank? Does API Quick start work sa immediate na pag cycle? My amonia now is always 0 ppm, wla pa ko kit sa nitrate ug nitrite so I couldn't tell pro I guess low sad cause I hardly get any amonia reading above 0ppm. Let me know if wrong ko sa ako assumption?

I'm really apprehensive in removing my crayfish, so far wla pa man sad cya ka kill na fish mostly mga dying/dead lang and sa mga plants I’ve found a way na dli na cya mu cut ug leaves and that's to keep her full with green peas. But you are right if naa nako mga stem plants she will definitely destroy them. I might just get a new tank, naa ka ma advice pang justify to a GF why I need to spend for a new tank? lol

I'll get a PH monitor later, I have the testing kit but mas convenient ang digital monitor.

Naa ka or others experience using peat moss sa filter? to lower PH? they say mu stain day water, naa way to avoid it?

Last question of this post, if I find a shop na mag sell DIY LEDs. what do I need to look for sa LED? in terms of Watts, Lumens, Color temp and etc.?

    Thank you sa advice...

    Regards,
