Guiuan, Eastern Samar is 3 hours away of land travel from Tacloban, given the current situation of San Juanico and the inaccessibility of the hi-ways, it would not be possible to access them from Tacloban. HOWEVER, an AIRPORT RUNWAY is available on that area. I haven’t been able to contact anyone from the province. GUIUAN can be a GOOD, STRATEGIC ACCESS POINT or GATEWAY for RELIEF GOODS to the whole Eastern Samar. It is composed of 60 barangays and almost 50,000 people which are established exactly along the coastlines; coastal towns and barangays, are composed of houses built mostly on light materials, the perfect recipe for disaster.

This airport may be able to handle C130 Planes, or any other smaller plane. If you have one available plane for relief and rescue, please, please and PLEASE try and access that part of EASTERN VISAYAS. This island town was STRUCK FIRST by the super typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan.

PS. This town has a good surfing spot, in Calicoan. It can receive more than 2m waves from the Philippine Sea/Pacific ocean side, even without a storm. 5m waves were reported in Tacloban. Ben Evardone, PNP and Philippine Red Cross told Mayor Rolando Evardone of Arteche, Samar that about 200 to 300 people died in the municipality of Hernani while 11 crew of barge are missing in Borongan City. According to local Red Cross, the report came from Plan Phil, an international NGO which has projects in several towns in Eastern Samar.

HERE'S HOW YOU CAN HELP.

We stick to a formula that's catchy, simple and flexible.
Remember this: 1 + 2 + 3 + 1 = 1 kilo of rice + 2 canned goods + 3 packs of instant noodles + 1 liter of bottled water.

For now, this addresses only the most immediate of needs and covers one meal for a regular household. Costing a little over a hundred pesos per pack, it is a good start to any relief effort.

Moreover, we encourage families, office mates, barkadas, fraternities, sororities, academic organisations to deliver to our receiving hubs already packed in this grouping, as a group activity you can bond over.

We also accept any goods (packed or otherwise) you are willing to donate to those affected by Yolanda, as well as posting official account numbers for cash donations soon. In the meantime, we open our receiving hub tomorrow (Nov. 10, Sunday, at the Arts and Sciences Building of UP Cebu in Gorordo Avenue, Lahug. One may inquire at a designated tent at the main gate for directions) from 9 a.m. to 5 a.m., staffed by UP Cebu student volunteers.

Goods will be distributed to both Eastern Visayas and Northern Cebu by UP Cebu alumni members.

Just got a call for help. 21 victims from Tacloban (2 females, 19 males) have been airlifted from Tacloban City to the Mactan Airbase Hospital. They are in need of personal hygiene kits like underwear and other basic peovisions as they cam with nothing else but the clothes on their backs. Kind souls located near Mactan, if you can help them out, please do.

BANTAYAN.

Bantayan Mayor Chris Escario managed to sneak in a call from the Sta. Fe wharf where there was signal on his cellphone. Bantayan looks like a war zone, he said. 90% of houses that are still standing have no more roof. About 7 are reported dead and they haven't surveyed the entire town plus the islets yet. They need water to drink and generator sets to get their pumps running. Please let us know if you know where we can borrow generators for Bantayan. Please.

Hi everyone. Damage in Medellin is catastrophic. We are crying for help. Government infrastructure there are either totally wiped out or heavily damaged. No power, no water. Practically all houses made of light materials are all gone. Major roads are blocked by trees or electric posts. They need generator sets to power their water systems. All their rice stocks are wet. All sugar canes look like a flat iron went over them. Sugar mill badly hit. All electric poles are down and cebeco may not be able to restore power in a month. Some beach resorts are gone. Docksides looks like it was bombed, with videokes scattered on the streets. Hideaway is gone and the bridge, too. All schools are damaged and cant be used, even the newly built ones that were not turned over yet. They badly need heavy equipment to clear the roads. Please, please, please, we are begging for help. Thank you very much.

Ormoc Status:

Ormoc is in ruins, total destuction and devastation. She was hit right on the center of super typhoon yolanda around 8am. We are experiencing the strongest and fastest wind speed ever. Murag feel namo ganena it is the end of the world. The storm lasts 4.5 hours. From 730 to 12. Kung milapas pa ug hapon i doubt kung maka survive mga taw dria. For sure ok ra ang mga taw diria. We survive. Way kurente for a month tungod tumba tanan electrical lines. Walay signal. Puydio.ka text. Di mo katawag murag emergency transmision ang smart. Ormoc needa basic services and needs. Ormoc is isolated as of now. Maglisod in ug out daghan harang karsada.
