If you're passion really is with Networking, then I suggest start as Technical Support that really involve not just by configuration basic DSL routers [but its a good start], but I suggest go to more hands-on configuration of Cisco Routers.

If you're a license ECE and CCNA that will be a good start, but make no mistake, if you try to apply in a BPO company like Technical Support for computers [this will be a challenging part], you need to make sure you stick into your goal if you try to apply as TSR. I was part of Matrix [Dell Certified] but resigned after 10months because its just not the type of Job that I was aiming for [talking to customers and troubleshooting PC problem that occur countless times].

my Teammate was an ECE unfortunately he stayed their too long that he was having problem applying for his field because of lack of experience on ECE field.

I am now working as Systems Engineer.

Don't lose hope, Don't lose that hunger... you still have a lot of time, manage it wisely.

Sacrifice for lower Salary, because right now you need experience to back your certification/license.

    imho

    bitaw, i agree bai!

Naa man saying, "Ang mag antos, ma santos"... Sacrifice jud for the time being. Because what you toil in the ground will someday bear good fruit.

i graduated computer engineering way back 2006
2 months before i graduated naay job fair sa amo school so i applied for eTelecare, Lexmark and PeopleSupport... i passed with PeopleSupport and eTelecare exams but PeopleSupport called me up first for the job offer so I just took the opportunity. i started work 20 days after my graduation --->>> april 20 , 2006. i wasted no time for relaxation. my starting salary was 10,000 pesos.

I was assigned to the technical support of ISP. after 6 months i was regularized and got an appraisal. salary was now 12500. after 1 year i only got 250 appraisal. i resigned from peoplesupport 1 year and 1 month later and applied with etelecare because i know that i am fit to be in the DELL technical support account since I graduated CoE and have the passion with computers.

i started with etelecare june 12, 2006... i started with 13,500 salary + 3,000 non taxable allowance... i got promoted 4 times within 1 year and 8 months... salary increased every promotion from 13500 to 15000 to 19440 to 23000 to 27000 in less than 2 years. i also got a certification from DELL which is DCSE with a DELL Badge ID.

got to the point wherein i got promoted to SME (Subject Matter Expert), etelecare merged with stream as you may know and is now called strream global services... they also changed the salary scheme and some adjustments on my salary from 27000 to 34500 + 3000 non taxable allowance

nearly 4 years with etelecare and stream i resigned and applied for a job here in Singapore

in just less than 2 weeks i got a job in singapore as IT Helpdesk Coordinator with Siemens

why it was just fast: because of the nearly 5 years of solid experience as technical support with those 2 call centers

OK, So What's your point siopao1984?
    My point is
    - dont under estimate the BPO / call center industry as this gave me the path to growth and development of my skills and expertise. Look at my long journey in 5 years time. The work experience especially in tech support that i got from these 2 call centers helped me a lot in looking for a job abroad that has a pay 3 times than my last drawn salary.

it does not mean na if ECE graduate or licensed ECE d mo mag try sa BPO / call center

    i hope ma inspire mo

it all starts with the first step. you have to build a solid experience.

Ur from dell etel sad diay sauna? murag nag.abot pa ta.. hehe daghan kaau ta dri sa sg ron dah..

TS, daghan man companies mudawat ug entry level not just bpo lang..

up ni naku b... TS kakita na ka trabaho karon?

im a licensed ECE as well, and now studying for CCNA pa... im currently in a manufacturing industry as a process engineer for 4 years na but i want to shift my career path and enter the IT industry... its something to do with my passion lang and greater opportunities awaits man daw sa IT industry...

well, your problem 2 years ago will be mine next year after i will pass, hopefully, the CCNA certification...

ayaw lang i-limit imohang kaugalingon, if wala pa then you should try something else or try it again. Im a licensed ECE pero Im woking with the EE side of work. Explore, pero mao gyud na imong ganahan na field, start small lang sa. Magkadugay di nimo ma hibaw.an na hait na diay ka sa ana na field.
