7 strings electric guitar(Advantages & Disadvantages)

Mga TS...currently bag.o rako nag practice2x sa 7 strings. Naa man sad ko strato og tele.
Nag shift lang ko kay ganahan ko mag experiment...gawas ko sa akoang comfort zone. (Usually blues ra gyud ko sa una..)
I play the guitar just for hobby lang...lingaw2x..pa wala sa stress.

Advantages:
1. Daghan og notes...pwede mo-tune down og maayo.
2. No need to tune down. B–E–A–D–G–B–E tuning
3. Daghan og chord voicings mahimo

Disadvantages:
1. Wider neck (kinahanglan mag practice para ma anad2x)
2. Mas priority na gyud kaayo ang palm muting skills sa guitarista.

Dili na nako ma elaborate tanan...

mao na kanang gi tawag nilang DJENT guitars no? kasagaran ra nq madunggan ana na ga gamit kay kanang mga bug.at na banda which is my trip. hehe jam nya ta puhon Kiyoshi!

Yes..usually mao ni gamit sa mga banda under DJENT nga genre. In fact pariha sa Meshuggah, 8 strings na ilahang gigamit with active pick ups para makuha gyud to grabe nga crunch sa gabas2x. Naa man uban models sa 7 strings nga dili active ilahang pick ups...pero depende ra pud sa guitarista unsa iyaha prefered nga sound.

First of all, I admire and respect you na nagsugod ka og experiment sa music.

Been using my 7strings for 7 years now. At first discouraging, since I'm not used to it. Like you said, gawas sa comfort zone. I even asked one of the respected mods to post my 7 to have it sold. Didn't worked out because the more I play it, the more I felt attached to it.

For me disadvantages:

1.) Hard to tune. I actually went to a guitar shop to have it tuned. Got tired of messing with it.
2.) Hard to find a set of 7 strings in Cebu. Rare but I've seen some in JB Music. I guess tapulan ra kaau ko mangita. Sometimes I need to buy an extra string which pisses me off kay inig abot nako sa balay magsige ko pangita asa na ang nabuwag na string. Well that's me, that's the horrible part of me though.
3.) Hard to find a guitar case especially if XL imo 7.

Adv:

1.) Can get on lower tunes
2.) Very comfortable to do sweeping because of the wide neck.
3.) More notes to go with.
4.) more experiments to go with
5.) You can string skip from very low to very high notes

I ain't a good guitarist but I love my 7. Even have it sleep beside me at times so when i wake up, i can grab it at once and play. I'm not into Djent nor palm muting. I just play my 7string by heart.

^Bro same here...admire sad ko nimo kay 7 years playing with 7 string guitar is not ordinary feat.
Ako karon, its been almost a month since I started practicing with it but naa pako sa adjustment period. Honestly, I have a "love-hate" relationship with my 7 string. Or maybe there is something wrong with the way that I practice.
Karon gud, Im practicing more of fast alternate picking like Petrucii-ish stuffs...wala pa kaayo koy stamina , from low string to the highest...by the second run sa lick kay maluya na ako right hand. Dili pa sad kaayo ko comportable sa neck. This is also the first time that I practice to play fast. Playing fast is really very difficult. My hats off to anyone who can shred fast effortlessly.

Pero another main advantage that I found out after practicing with 7 strings....dili na gyud lisod if mag gamit sa 6 strings.
Samot if faster licks...gamay na gyud kaayo ang neck sa 6 strings. Mas more comfortable na pag gamit sa 6 string. Dali na kaayo maabot from low string to higher string. Mo increase sad ang stamina sa nag guitara. Its like praticing with a medicine ball.

Pero unsaon man sad nga Addictive kaayo... once we hear the beautiful low notes nga mahimo sa 7 strings.
Like last night , I tried to play walk by Pantera..gi drop-D tune nako ang 6th string unya ang 7th string kay gipabilin nako sa B tune. Grabi ka-bug.at paminawon if ang opening riff sa 7th ring e-play rather sa usual 6th string drop-D.
Tinoud sad gyud..the sound of the 7th string has different dimensions. With a simple riff and high gain distortion, you can "cut" mountains in half..
Killer gyud kaayo..maka.paputol og t-back na panty...riffs that could kill bin laden in an instant..hehehe...
