Yes, a legacy of uncontrolled greed and vindictiveness! How can I forget the "Joiner's fee"? The stupidly planned market? The refusal to give business permits to those whom he thought were against him? Never again! Not another Ouano in my beloved hometown.

Committee to monitor new Mandaue market

CONSIDERING its cost, the new public market of Mandaue City should be under a project monitoring committee that will ensure its completion on schedule.

Vice Mayor-elect Carlo Pontico Fortuna said in an interview that with the controversy surrounding the market, its construction, design and operation should be monitored.

The monitoring committee will also help prevent slippage.

Fortuna said, though, that “operation” refers to the setting up of stalls, traffic, parking and the like.
The day-to-day operations will be handled by the market authority.

Fortuna said it will be up to Mayor-elect Jonas Cortes to appoint the people to compose the monitoring committee.

Sought for comment, Cortes said a project monitoring committee will surely be created, bu it will focus not only on the public market but also on unfinished road projects such as the Gerardo Ouano road extension in Barangay Ibabao-Estancia and the Jovita Ouano Martinez road in Barangay Looc.

Perhaps a better step is to consider whether to go ahead with that market or not. If it is true that a condition was set by the donor of the current market lot behind the church that the mentioned lot be returned to their heirs if the lot is not used as a market, then the coming administration must study the consequences. What to do with the current market? Return ownership to the donor or build another market there? If the area would be retained as a market, wouldn't it compete with the new one, making it impossible to earn enough to pay for the 500M mortgage?

I submit that while Ted's testament to his stupidity is still a bunch of posts, for the Jonas administration to study all angles before pouring in more money into it. The design could still be changed into some other building for another purpose. Mandaue can still cut its' losses at this stage.

Bro, dili taga Cebu ang magdala sa traffic sa Mandaue. Ang giingon ni Jonas, mokunsulta ang Mandaue sa CITOM kay sila man ang mas epektibo ug paagi sa pagdumala sa traffic. Bali tudlo-an ang kanhi Tedman sa mga saktong paagi aron mahapsay ang traffic sa Mandaue. Unsaon pulos man mga tawo niya ang gihimong traffic officer bisan gyud ug walay kamahu-an.
