Talk about selective and vindictive justice of the current administration. Maayo ra sad wala na si Corona at present kay mag-problema gyud ni ang current administration kung si Corona pa Chief Justice.

    mao nay politics.

Every move, no matter how seemingly noble it may seem, has another latent intent, this has always been true with any administration, past and present. This new administration that everyone lauds as the "good guys"... They're no different. In fact they're more dangerous, because they are fully aware about how to manipulate the simple-minded sentimental Filipino masses.

A lot of Yellow-brained posters here won't agree, but the truth is PNoy is a demagogue.

He had, before the court, explained where his money came from. We even opened up over decades old worth of his bank account information, because the prosecution was trying to find loose ends. They got him on the count that he didn't disclose his assets and liabilities faithfully, not because there was suspicious money. Regardless, he is guilty, if only by technicality.
His attempt at hijacking the event was unsuccessful. Of course he knew the cameras would be all over him like a rash. He had no business there.... a concerned citizen.. really. Funny how he never expressed any interest in this cause while he was in a position to do something about it.

May 29th, 2012. The Senate sitting as the impeachment court convicted Chief Justice Renato Corona for betrayal of public trust and culpable violation of the Philippine Constitution.

And I'm correcting you. He didn't have millions of unexplained dollars, he had millions of explained dollars that were omitted from the SALN.

Tell me, what did he do to merit him being accused of "hijacking" this event? Simply by just going to the event? I didn't know disapproval for the Pork was exclusive to a group.

There was actually a petition in 2004 where Corona presided as CJ. It was scrapped because "Like almost all powers conferred by the Constitution, the power of judicial review is subject to limitations, to wit: (1) there must be an actual case or controversy calling for the exercise of judicial power; (2) the person challenging the act must have the standing to question the validity of the subject act or issuance; otherwise stated, he must have a personal and substantial interest in the case such that he has sustained, or will sustain, direct injury as a result of its enforcement; (3) the question of constitutionality must be raised at the earliest opportunity; and (4) the issue of constitutionality must be the very lis mota of the case.[16]"...it was G.R. No. 164987, LAMP vs Secretary of Budget and Management. The petition did not meet the criteria. As a member of the judiciary there really is little he can do to initiate a motion. Justices have to at lest try to maintain a vow of impartiality. They have to also put into account the political question doctrine.

There are explanations and then there are acceptable explanations. He offered up his bank records... because he was confident that dollar accounts were beyond scrutiny. He even stated as much at the time. Non declaration of SALN is not a mere technicality, especially when one is in a position of trust... the chief justice no less. To consciously omit millions of dollars is a major and flagrant violation. The purpose of SALN is to fight corruption, non-declaration, the hiding of assets is highly suspicious.

The recent rally was all about corruption. For a hi-profile individual (who was fired as a result of misdeclaration of SALN) to attend a peoples' rally is not only inappropriate, it is hypocritical. Remember that his assertion of absolute secrecy effectively allowed any corrupt official to safely hide ill-gotten wealth... to cheat the system). Also, he didn't sleepwalk his way to the rally... it was a conscious decision and one must examine his motives for doing so. He was cast out, removed by his peers....many of whom could have far more to hide than he. If that's not a good reason for revenge then I don't know what is.
