The US must be scratching their heads now, asking: "Are we friends or not?" Our Senators, headed by the "nationionalist kuno" Juan Ponce Enrile, kicked the Americans out of our country. For some reason, we convinced ourselves that the US bases were the cause of a lot of ills in our country, from prostitution to various conspiracy theories.

Now, we're like "Hey, Joe. Long time no see. Any chance you have some hand-me-down Coast Guard ships I can buy with corruption-inflated money?"

Get serious. The US looks at us more as an arrogant nuisance than a friend, although their diplomats would read a different script on TV.

and as ammeded by RA 10349

UDMC, FerFrans, Shooters, Armscor are not qualified... but on some certain occasion specially in SRDP local manufacturer are encourage to submit and developed an idea similar to what UDMC and steelcraft did...

beside GA had been modernizing itself... once its complete it will provide all the necessary requirements both PNP and AFP..

hopefully the SRDP would take a high gear sooner... it was on high gear during the 70's but was stop after 1987.... well you do the math...

Dry-docking period of the Filipino frigate, which is now moored at the Alave Pier, Subic Bay, is expected to start this August up to October.

"The additional armaments which will be fitted to the BRP Ramon Alcaraz is part of our enhancement program," PN flag-officer-in-charge Vice Admiral Jose Luis Alano said during the sidelight of the ship's welcoming ceremony Tuesday.

He declined to specify what weapons that will be fitted to the BRP Ramon Alcaraz.

But PN sources said that this include two Mark 38 Model "Bushmasters" auto cannon which will be mounted in between four to six .50-caliber and M-60 machine guns.

"The weapons are already here and it will be installed during her dry-docking period," the Navy source said.

Additional heavier weapons are also on the way to make the BRP Ramon Alcaraz a much combat capable ship, he added.

yeah but it still lacks missile capabilities, unlike our chinese couterparts even thier smallest frigate is equipped with BVR anti-ship missiles. we have the ship, the crew, but it lacks firepower and fear factor.

It is still better than having no ship... I believe we are gearing on that direction...

Missiles are more important since they can hit their target even if it's not yet visible to the naked eye unlike the bushmasters or other types of machine guns.
