Studies have suggested that eating a chocolate bar that has a cacao levels of 75% and higher and has a low level of added sugar is very beneficial to your health.The Cacao bean contains chemicals called flavanols. These chemicals are also found in many healthy foods like apples, cherries and black tea that promote good cardiovascular health.

Studies show that dark chocolate can lower blood pressure in healthy adults and in patients with hypertension. Research shows that the effect is modest, however, lowering systolic pressure (the higher number recorded, when the heart is pumping blood) and diastolic blood pressure (the lower number, recorded while the heart is resting between beats) by just under 5 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). The benefit wears off within a few days of stopping “treatment” with a daily “dose” of dark chocolate. And another reality check comes from a six-week 2008 study of 101 healthy adults that did not find any benefit for blood pressure.
