Voice quality? Yes
Versatility? I don't think so.
Speaking about which, the last battle with Dan just showed how she's not versatile enough.
Dan did better than Lee.
That alone proved that she has a lot of training and coaching needed to be done.
Lee can sing no doubt but only chosen songs/genra. She just can't sing ANY song.
She was a hit during blind audition but battle round is a battle, she shouldn't win because she has a lot of fans ONLY.
And I am very disappointed that Bamboo chose Lee over Dan because Lee has a story to tell.
Very unfair.
It just felt like anyone who will sing against Lee will have no chance to win because she's the preferred one.
In the end, if she or Mitoy are to face I would choose the latter.
Voice over popularity.
Hello guys,
I’ve been reading the comments from last nights battle, Lee vs Dan …1st thing no favoritism…I don’t play that…I go for who I think I can help..who I can develop…who I think has something to say…I’ve spent many hours with my team (off camera)..i try my best to know them as best I can…as singers, songwriters, performers and people. I know the weight of my responsibility… I take what I do very seriously…so to make decisions on one performance….on a “battle”…I think my guys deserve better than that..I believe in Dan…if I remember correctly I was the only one who turned …I heard something special in Dan...and last nights performance…he proved me right…he shined..i was so happy for him…and hated …HATED to make that decision…But Lee…Lee has a story to tell…I just feel that I have to give her that chance…she has an artists soul…she was lost an all she needed was to find a bit of light…I know lee ..her strengths and weaknesses…I pushed Lee…put her in a situation where I knew was difficult…but I’m always a believer of adversity…to be tested…GROWTH over prize…and in defeats we grow stronger…Lee lost that “battle” but she deserves to move on..be heard…i could have easily changed the key for Lee to make it easier on her but I didn’t…I wanted to hear Lee…this battle wasn’t about Lee vs Dan..it was Lee vs Lee…Dan Vs Dan…i will continue to sit on my chair…and continue to make these hard decisions...but know this..i am commited to my artists..my team a 100% …the lights go off…and I’m still there..i’m no longer dans “coach”…but if he’ll have me as a friend and mentor to guide him…I will try my best to get Dans story told…it just wasn’t his time…I know Dan…and all he needs is a guide ..let me be that guide…be positive ..lets support both artists..#RESPECT #KAMPKAWAYAN #VOICEPH
I am starting to like Sarah again.
In all fairness to her, she's doing a good job.
So far, the pairing and her song choices weren't questionable.
Don't mind the childish and overrated traits, she's always been like that, we cannot change her into someone we think she should be.
That battle of Morisette vs Lecelle, her choice to pair the two was very good pick.
And then the clash last night was also very well done.

Team Sarah
The Lecelle vs Morisette was a good match-up and the song choice was very appropriate because both contestants were Karaoke artists whose style fits the song perfectly. But with Junji vs Dave, that was a disaster. You really can't expect people to sing a Queen/Freddie Mercury song and expect it to sound close to decent. First - that song is recorded with several vocal tracks layered one on top of the other.. some parts are too complex to replicate. Even when yoou try to make it sound like your own, it would still sound like half-baked. Second, Freddie's range is simply ludicrous. Seemed like Junji's jugular was about to pop. Can't even say much about Dave because the guy isn't really that good at all. With the harmonies, the 2 contestants were all over the place. It was such a disastrous performance. A bad song choice. Sarah could've chosen something simpler.
Yuki vs Kathreen - the girl got totally outclassed... and the "guy" actually had a sore throat and still sounded good and made his opponent sound amateurish. He's obviously the more seasoned singer.. the way he was changing the melodies. The girl was trying.. but was often flat or sharp, close to the ending she had a long adlib and a solo part and all towards the ending she was just totally all over the place. Painful!
Team Lea's
Japs vs Diday. A very easy song to sing but a couple of mediocre singers can't even manage to make it sound good. This was another disastrous performance. I expected more from team Lea but this was just very disappointing.
Kim and Taw - Good song choice and arrangement. Good singers both but I thought Taw had this, I like the richness of her voice.. and her style, sultry and jazzy. Kim also went flat on his harmony in the end part.
Team Bamboo..
The duo (father and son) and Paolo. Great song choice.. I thought the advantage was gonna be on the duo since APO HIKING's songs are usually all about the harmony. BUT - the duo's mistake was to let the son sing the main melody (the son is the weaker singer). Paolo is a good singer.. nice tone.. really rich.. and really good control and dynamics. Still, it was a toss-up between the two... that was a tough competition.
Angelique vs Deb vs Nicole .. not too crazy about the song choice especially with the increased tempo. Song felt really rushed. Clearly Angelique had more style.. sultry and lush vocal quality.. I expected her to win this match-up and she did.
Team APL
Thor vs Lord - Thor was singing circles around his opponent (figuratively). Lopsided battle. Lord got totally outclassed. Sounded like a singing lesson.. a teacher showing a student how it's done.
Moira, Cara, and Penelope trio - nothing extraordinary with these three singers. Penelope got the better range, more stable on the higher notes.

To sum it all up, I'd say Team Bamboo had the stronger performance collectively. And for the best match-up, I would do go Team Bamboo's Father-Son duo vs Paolo.
Why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?
