mga bro, not sure if any of you own/tried these cans, but im seriously considering getting either the Senn HD-650 or the Hifiman HE-400 next month. They are more or less at the same price at Egghead (with the HD-650 being discounted), though i really dont know which one sounds better based on my personal preferences. I am looking to audition both of them first though.

Right now, I am more inclined to get the HE-400 though, primarily because it uses planar magnetic drivers and i am pretty much very curious on how these sound compared to dynamic and i never owned/tried one of these too so it would be a nice addition. besides, online reviews on the HE-400 are very very high. also, i already have the Hifiman EF2A tube amp which im sure would pair pretty well. But then again, the HD-650 is unquestionably legendary so it still depends which sound i will like better.

Another possible option is the Grado RS2i which is also at the same price, but Egghead does not sell this so i would have to buy it online. Anything more expensive is already out of budget. hehe

Any of you have any recommendations?

its christmas gift for myself too and ive been planning it for months lol But Egghead has a huge discount on the HD-650 and Ill be in manila next month so grab the opportunity nalang, without the discount its way above my budget na so advance xmas gift nalang. still depende ra gihapon inig audition. My ears are used to the Grado signature sound so i wont hesitate to back out if it doesnt suit my taste no matter how legendary it is.

No more headphones purchases for me for now, hahaha.. I will wait for the great sale after the summer..

The main purpose of the burn-in process is to loosen the diaphragm of a newly crafted headphone and to stress the headphone driver. Most audiophiles agree that the sound quality will be noticeably improved after burn-in.

mura rana sakyanan or motor bro na kinahanglan nato e break in para mu nindot ang dagan.. same with the headphones, need nato e burn in para mu nindot pud ang sound ^_^ and depende pud sa headphones kung pila ka hours eburn in.. my M50 undergone 4 days burn in, my DT1350 nag total mga 7 days burn in.. search sa youtube, daghan diha pang burn in (white noise) eadd sa playlist nimu then play it nonstop.. ang volume kusug gamay sa imu usual na gamit..

patience is a virtue, hehehe.. enjoy your new cans!

I dont really do 40 hrs of burn-in. too much ra para nako. lisud na makalitan ug ahat ang diaphragm. usually i play the noise audio from treeo for about 23mins then leave it overnight mga 8-10hrs on my normal playlist then afterwards i simply just use it and let it burn-in naturally over time. but then again its up to you. there are so many ways. also, full volume over a long period might destroy your "new" cans.
