P40M for traffic lights systemTHE Mandaue City Government will set up a P40-million traffic lights system in the first quarter of the year, an official said.City Planning Officer Florentino Nimor, in a recent interview, said the bidding of the traffic lights was completed last year.Once the system is put in place, the City can monitor the traffic and control the traffic lights in its newly-operated command center near the City Hall.“It’s not an ordinary traffic lights system,” Nimor said. The traffic lights system features a closed-circuit television and graphicalillustration for deaf-mutes, among others. The traffic lights will be placed in at least 14 major intersections, including Highway Seno, S.B. Cabahug, A.C. Cortes and U.N. Ave.The project was awarded to a Metro Manila-based firm.Technical working groupNimor said the City formed a technical working group to implement the project. “After a contract is issued and signed, the traffic lights will then be installed,” he said.Apart from the traffic lights system, the City will prioritize road and drainage projects this year.Nimor said City officials will meet this week to discuss the specific road and drainage projects. He said 20 percent of the City’s expected Internal Revenue Allotment, which amounts to P90 million, will be used to improve roads and drainages and to implement projects under the Performance Governance System (PGS).About P45 million will go to PGS projects, which include the Bantay Mandaue Command Center, the My Mandaue Urban Development Program, Mandaue Investment and Promotion Action Center. The rest of the amount will go to road and drainage projects.Other projectsNimor said that among the projects the City will pursue is fixing the drainages in the eastern side of Mandaue City and opening a 700-meter road that will connect M.C. Briones St. and Mantawi Drive.[code]http://www.sunstar.com.ph/cebu/local-news/2013/01/07/p40m-traffic-lights-system-261684[code]

expect more brand new traffic lights to be installed in mandaue city. maayu kay wala na gyud intawon nag anad ang mandaue ug sige pangayo ug donated nga mga traffic lights. hehe.
kadako sa budget.....in-ani kamahal diay ni? or bloated budgeting napod ni?
OFF paman pag-uli nako gabii mga 6PM...
tidbits info:
kanang basketball scoreboard display with shot clock nga wirelessly controlled tag 80k to 120K lang.... simple tanawon pero mahal man d i...
so expected na mahal ang new traffic light kay naa man nay mga survey, engineering design, materials use, implementation, ug ang mga kick back diha automatic SOP, dili lang halata kay apil naman sa pricing nakajack-up na daan.... IMO... :P![]()

yup. kasagaran sa highly congested routes sa mandaue kay new na ang traffic lights and poles.
40M for TRAFFIC LIGHT SYSTEM... sa tingin ko di lang ang traffic lights included sa budget na eto.. pati na rin yung installation poles and labor...
so, i think 40M is a good enough budget. sana long lasting eto. baka naman hanggang 5 years lang, sira na agad! hehe
