I understand why people refuse to use the language outside for some reasons and I also understand the people who speak english most of the time. I believe it's a matter of choice........you can choose who to speak to and with whoever u feel comfortable communicating with....

well guys, both of the languages play essential roles here in cebu.........lets not condemn it neither the speakers....lets respect the choice....besides who are we to judge....

The problem with this classification is that it was made under the guidance of politicians. Any language that is not Filipino becomes a dialect under this classification.

I read a study before, however, by a foreign organization that classified much of what we called "dialects" as being really languages. Thus we do not have just one Filipino language, the reality is that we have many Filipino languages. For example, there is no way you can classify V/Bisaya as being a dialect of Tagalog/Pilipino (as distinguished from Filipino). You can say, however, that Cebuano, Illongo and Waray are dialects of Visayan (or Bisaya). Ta-as pa nig istorya so I'll end here.

    To get back on topic.....

Nothing wrong with being English speaking. Nationalism is NOT found in the language. Knowledge of the english language is a BIG advantage for Cebuanos, and we are generally known to be more proficient in its use than Tagalogs. Who was that Tagalog director who said that, "English is still the language of power." ? English is still Cebu's second language after Visayan and before Tagalog.

Mas hilas para nako kanang mga choir na mo kanta ug Tagalog songs during an English or Bisaya mass. Kat-on kuno mo'g "Amahan Namo" instead of "Ama Namin".

so, the point is, that we should know where to use it, when to use it, and why your gonna use it...
there are a lot of words that you can't speak in bisaya or in tagalog, and we usually use English to finish the sentence, and vice versa...ahahaha...
Of course we understand if your speaking English even though (if its a scrambled English) we know that your a pure Filipino, thats just how you express yourself, and theres completely nothing wrong with it... Its our international language why shouldn't we practice it, and be quipped to that language...

I think there's nothing wrong with any language as long as it is not used to make people feel bad about themselves.

Language is just a way to connect. The essence of the connection is what counts the most.

I think an articulate tongue is not as valuable as the truth it proclaims.

    Plus, I have heard that:

Cute people are poor in speling and wrong in grammaring. So english is not really counting. We must not worried. What is your thoughts?
