Another Mandaue respondent willing to support Sanchez

ANOTHER employee of the Mandaue City government may be ready to come forward to tell more about how they were allegedly “forced” to sign cost estimates for the ASEAN lampposts.

The lawyer of Mandaue City electrical engineer Alfredo Sanchez said another respondent of the case being investigated by the Visayas Ombudsman called him to corroborate his client's statements.

Julius Ceasar Entise, legal counsel and nephew of Sanchez, said this respondent was thinking of retaining his legal services.

“He said he was willing to corroborate the accounts of Sanchez and that he just wants the truth to come out. He will decide whether or not to avail of my assistance but I told him don't take long,” Entise said.

The lawyer said his uncle, whose counter-affidavit was reported in the papers yesterday, now fears for his personal safety.

We all know that MANDAUE City Mayor Thadeo Ouano, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Arturo Radaza and 17 other public officials are suspended to give way to the ongoing investigation on their alleged participation in the overpriced purchase of lamps for the Asean summit.

This came as a result when Businessman Crisologo Saavedra and party-list group Bayan Muna had filed a plunder complaint on the alleged overpriced purchase of 2,310 lamps and streetlights that were installed in Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu and Cebu cities for the Asean summit last January.

Your thoughts and comments on possible filing of criminal case of PLUNDER in the Sandiganbayan against these 19 officials in connection with the lamppost controversy.

To prove the innocence or guilt of these suspended officials, the appropriate criminal case should be filed against them. The sooner the better to turn the wheels of justice, and in the end the decision of guilty or not guilty can be given.
