Mancao: I'm still in Luzon
MANILA – Former police senior superintendent Cezar Mancao II on Monday said he has no plans to leave the country, belying a supposed intelligence report by the Department of Justice (DOJ) that he was trying to secure a passport.
Kaya dito lang ako, sabi nga: 'It's More Fun in the Philippines,' it's more fun outside the jail," Mancao told radio dzMM.
DOJ Secretary Leila De Lima earlier bared Mancao's alleged plans to to leave the country, saying the fugitive ex-cop was trying to secure passports for himself and two others.
The justice chief said she decided to divulge the information as a "preemptive" measure, adding that Mancao is now sporting a wig.
Still in Luzon
Mancao, who ran for board member in Compostela Valley but lost, said he was not able to go to the province to campaign. He also revealed he is still in Luzon.
In the same interview, Mancao also accused Liberal Party Compostela Valley vice-gubernatorial bet Manuel "Way Kurat" Zamora of practicing vote-buying in the province.
Ang daming witnesses, 'di lang makapalag," he said.
Mancao bolted the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) detention facility in Manila on May 2 upon learning that the Manila trial court hearing the Dacer-Corbito double murder case, where he stands as an accused, ordered his transfer to the city jail.
Mancao said his life will be in danger inside the city jail.
The DOJ has since removed him from the witness protection program.
