if my history is right. Taiwan is considered as a rebel group by the PROC(mainland China). mao ni sila ang Koumintang ni Sun Yatsen and Chang Kai-sek. Before WW2, Koumintang were the ruling party and the Communist Party of Mao Zedong were the rebel group. Unfortunately for the Koumintang, Mao Zedong's Communist Party makes a great advance after the war and eventually claim the government. making the Koumintang retreat to the island of Taiwan and established their seat of government there. At first Taiwan was recognized by the UN but the PROC made a protest on the recognition of Taiwan and instead they should be the one recognized. So UN have to choose, and your guess is good as mine, UN choose PROC over Taiwan. The reason was that UN saw the threat of China to the stability not only in Asia but the whole world. So it should be ensured that they remains as member of UN so that they can still be sanctioned as member state. Mao pod na ang reason why China is a permanent member of the powerful UN Security Council.

Up to now, the PROC and Taiwan are technically at war with each other just like the Korean nations.

Second Taiwanese fighter crash within a week

TAIPEI - A Taiwanese fighter jet ploughed into the sea off the island's north coast on Monday, the air force's second crash in less than a week, military officials said.

The crash happened when the French-made Mirage 2000-5 fighter was conducting a regular training mission, the air force said, adding that both crew managed to parachute to safety.

The cause of the incident was under investigation, it said.

A single-seater F-16 went down off central Taiwan on Wednesday last week due to mechanical failure. The pilot managed to parachute to safety.
