I think the strap can prevent chaffing or friction from movement but It's actually the prolonged stress caused by the weight of your camera and it's lens perhaps including an external flash is whats causing the pain to your neck and shoulder at the end of the day.

Lactic acid which causes soreness builds up when muscles are at work especially in a long period of time, in this case, your muscle and shoulder are working to hold the weight of your gear. Same advice as Beor, shift from one shoulder to another or when you not using your camera and your are walking put inside your bag. I'm assuming your bag is designed to have equal weight distribution whe it's full.

for me all straps are stressful if used on the body for along period of tie, even the R strap or quick strap kay 1 shouldered raman. so best way is alternate the use from 1 shoulder to the other. and-------shoot nalang cge, para wala sa imo shoulder ang weight, naa sa imo kamot..HEHEHE

Has anyone tried the camera holster attached to your belt? Is this any good?
