Its just sad to watch our country being pushed around by her neighbors, and sadder still to see her not stand her ground...

Ah one can only dream... When will we ever be able to stand up like the Russians... It seems that when they fired at intruding vessels, detain and even sinking them, the intruder just gets dissatisfied and just condemns their coast guard...

    Kinda old news...

BEIJING - China called an urgent meeting with Russia in Beijing on Thursday, condemning its coastguard days after it fired on Chinese fishing boats and detained dozens of fishermen who had entered its exclusive economic zone.

A Russian coastguard vessel on Tuesday fired warning shots at Chinese fishing vessels, then opened targeted fire to stop one trawler that had been fishing for squid in Russia's far eastern Primorsky region.

It later detained 36 fishermen and two fishing vessels.

"China is strongly dissatisfied with Russia's rough law enforcement and use of military force to seize Chinese fishing boats," Vice Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping told the acting head of Russia's mission in Beijing, according to a statement on the Chinese Foreign Ministry's website.

Well, with coast guard ships like these, and with people willing to use them, I doubt rude neighbors would come pushing...

Russian Coast Guard patrol warship Dzerzhinsky pursued a Chinese-flagged fishing boat that, they apparently somehow knew in advance, was carrying illegally caught squid.

The fishing boat refused commands to stop and was trying to outrun the Coast Guard ship. To prevent them from fleeing, Dzerzhinsky opened fire with their machine guns and cannon, finally destroying the violator's engine and causing it to stop. Because of the abrupt stop, there was a collision betweem the two veesels, with the larger and much heavier Dzerzhinsky riding up unto the poaching ship and nearly overturning it, throwing one of the fishermen into the waters. He has not been found, and is assumed drowned.

The 17 others surrendered without resistance when Coast Guard troops boarded their boat, and are being taken to Nakhodka for further investigation. 22,5 tonnes of illegal squid have indeed been found aboard the boat. No documents for the boat or the produce have been located.

Do we really want to become like Russia though? It is as bad as, if not worse than China with Putin in charge. Putin has been blamed for cross-border assassinations, while China has not. And it is maybe for this reason China is afraid of Russia, because the guy running the place is batshit crazy. Do you know what they did to people in Chechnya? If you think China is bad, Russia is by far worse it is a sick country full of sick people...
