It costs to transfer to another host too, so it might not be worthwhile for people to go with 1and1 if they want a blogger blog. Don't you charge a transfer fee, too?

Also, Google does need a longer CNAME for webmaster tools verification, I believe - but it can be done by file upload instead. Just don't start the verification process for 1and1 the other way.

It costs to transfer from one domain registrar to another but if you´re with 1and1 you won´t hesitate as what my client did. Like what you said and I quote:

Would you stay with 1and1? I don´t think so. For me, Customer Service is the most important thing.
