dual boot sad ko sa una sa kong laptop TS,
on the online instruction i was following ingon man to nga install XP first then WIndow 7 thereafter-
Older OS first then newer OS after.
It worked man sad kay i can choose w/c OS to choose to boot.

later when i decided to add another OS,
i reckoned nga i'm better off using virtual machine.
Now virtual machine nako Lubuntu ug XP.

if you install XP before windows 7 chances are the boot OS will be overwritten... unless its a different OS like ubuntu kay madetect raman siya as long as wala nimo gi install on the same boot drive...

now about GPT and MBR, it is very common issue since XP are said to be will not run on GPT same goes to linux (though some are able to make a workaround using GPT)... windows 7 to 8 supports GPT on windows 8 it is recommended but not required.... this the reason why windows 8 loads fast...
