Nah, maypa magpa-feeding program nalang sila if ipalit man kuno. Bitaw, murag dili na tinuod oi. Mas maau man pd if naay kompetisyon kay daghan opportunity nga ma-himo kaysa mag-monopoly sila.

USC was originally founded by the Spanish Jesuits in 1595 as Colegio de San Idelfonso and was located at Marites St. (now M.J. Cuenco Ave.) The school was closed with the expulsion of the Jesuits from the Phils. In 1730's it was reopened by Spanish Bishop of Cebu as Colegio Seminario de San Carlos and was administered by the Dominicans (founder of UST, Manila) and later by the Franciscans. With the decree of the Holy See to separate the colegio from the seminario, the colegio was kept in old Martires St. and the seminario was transfered to Mabolo which was owned by the Archdiocese. The land at Martires St. was donated by richest Spanish/Portuguese merchant in Cebu Don Mariano Veloso as well the old site in Martires St. of Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion (CIC).

In 1930, the Archbishop of Cebu transferred the Colegio de San Carlos to a new site which is presently the main/ downtown campus. The land was owned by the Archdiocese of Cebu with large parcel donated by the heirs of Don Gen. Junquera. The colegio then was administered by the Vincentians (founder of Adamson Univ., Manila) and later in 1935 then Cebu Archbishop Gorrordo invited and requested the German-Dutch missionaries to take over the university upon their expulsion from China with the outbreak of communist regime. The SVD missionaries have established prominent Catholic universities in China, Taiwan and Japan. With the SVD missionaries the old colegio dramatically grew from a mere elementary and high school for boys to an institution of higher learning with the establishment of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (oldest college outside Manila) and were administered and developed by German / Dutch priests who were professors, researchers, scientists and PhD degree holders from topnotch universities in Germany, Netherlands and US. USC's leadership and excellence in the natural sciences, chemistry, physics, engineering, anthropology, sociology is attributed to those pioneering SVD missionaries.

Rev. Father Bunzel, a German SVD engineer donated proceeds of his family inheritance to the initially acquire the 100+ hectares properties in Talamban, Cebu City and was fully acquired by the SVD thru foreign donations mainly from Europe. Then in 1960's the USC Technological Center (USC-TC) now named as Bunzel Building was built with the grant from the German Government and the President / Chancellor of West Germany inaugurated the USC-TC about 50 years ago! Now with four large campuses around Cebu City, USC Main, USC-South and USC-North campuses and the USC Talamban Campus are tangible proof of USC's strength, viability, sustainability and competitiveness under the SVD.

It is envisioned that USC Talamban will be the first Univer-City Campus outside Manila at par with the best campuses such as UP-Diliman, UP-Los Banos, Ateneo de Manila, De La Salle Univ. and UST!

Thus, there are no factual basis on the "cheap and unfounded rumors" that USJR owns USC main campus!?
