but if this initiative will continue on and on till kingdom come then we will be in the future...

usahay man jud ningas kugon ta and usually acceptable na sa kadaghanan nato ang okay na. dapat ang matubag na question is can we answer the current threat we have right now, if yes then pwede stop temporarily ang modernization; but if no then continue ang modernization initiatives.

Navy in the market for three more multi-purpose attack craft

Navy in the market for three more multi-purpose attack craft

In a bid to modernize its patrol craft forces, the Philippine Navy (PN) announced that it is planning to acquire three more "multi-purpose attack crafts" (MPACs).

This acquisition program is under the Navy's mid-term development plan for 2014 to 2017, PN spokesperson Lt. Cmdr. Gregory Fabic said.

"This (MPAC)acquisition is under our mid-term development plan for 2014 to 2017," he added.

The PN at present has six MPACs in service.

Three of them are sourced from Taiwan while the remaining three were ordered from Filipino shipbuilder Propmech Corporation, which is based in Subic Bay, Zambales.

Each one is worth around P90 million and is capable of carrying 16 fully-equipped troopers or two tons of cargo.

The MPAC is capable of operating in territorial waters up to "Sea State 3" (slight waves) without any system degradation.

It is armed with one .50 caliber and two 7.62mm machine guns. (PNA)

if the PN is acquiring this between 2014 to 2017 as what Lt. Cmdr. Gregory Fabic said.. that's 3 long years, 1 mpac/year..
I doubt PN will be able to get 42 mpacs by 2020 as what they have plan on their Desired force mix..

    Agree,
but in this initiative I think
we have to modernize our generals first,
if you follow what I mean.

    ^^MPAC Mk l

    MPAC Mk ll
Specification: 16.5 meters long, 4.76 meters wide
    Top speed: 45 knots
    Range: 300 nautical miles
Crew: one officer and four enlisted personnel. Capable of carrying 16 fully-equipped troopers or two tons of cargo.
Capable of operating in territorial waters up to "Sea State 3" (slight waves) without any system degradation.

All-Filipino designed and built watercraft by Propmech Corporation of Subic Bay, Zambales.

the first two photos at the top are our MPAC Mk I which we got from taiwan as what sir elvandesantos mention..
while the third one is the MPAC Mk ll that was made by Propmech.. notice the configuration upgrades done by propmech compared to the taiwanese boats.. Most notable is the relocation of the gun mounts behind the bridge, instead of being at foredeck.
