Burn data to DVD help

how do i burn data to a DVD? i am usng Nero 5 at home and i chose the "burn data" (or something like that) option, dragged the folder containing my data i want to burn (around 3.6+ GB), clicked on "Burn", then it started burning.. but when i checked the DVD, it was empty... basically i want to put the folder into the DVD, so when I insert the disc to another computer, i just open the drive and see all the files i put in it..

is that the right way to burn data on Nero? or am I doing something wrong?
or is it my DVD burner that's messed up, coz i've noticed a lot of problems with that ROM..
or are there programs for this specific task and Nero isn't one of them?

please help, very urgent.

(Note: one of the files I am burning is a .dmg file for Mac, and I am burning it on Windows... i did Google but couldn't find anything useful other than people saying on forums that .dmg files can't be burned or something like that.. I just want to, literally, copy&paste my files to the DVD)

Correct me if I'm wrong, I think ang Nero 5 kay dili pa supported ang DVD writer. Try installing a higher version
