Nishikigoi or koi for short is the japanese word for brocaded or colored carp. Oftentimes, koi neophytes are misled to believing that carps we usually keep and collect are different from koi when in fact its not. The fishes that are refered as the common carp ra jud is katong dark greenish brown ang color which is bred in some areas not as pets but for food. Kanang carp nga imong makitan sa magallanes bro, koi gihapon na. In my own opinion, kanang distinction sa name sa koi and carp was only done for business purposes. Syempre kung koi na gani mahal na. In Japan though, naa jud sila gpangfollow nga bloodlines in their breeding which is just normal coz they have made a name for themselves naman when it comes to koi breeding. Ilang mga koi maproduce in Japan are of great quality but mahal pud kaau.
