El Nido was spectacular. I was there with my family April last year. Although the place was very very good, few reminders lang gyud sa mga mu travel ngadto:
1. El Nido is 5-6 hours away from Puerto Princesa. Ang road usahay straight, usahay winding, usahay semento, usahay batoon. lols if you don't like to go on a long roadtrip (especially if limited ra imong time ngadto, think: 10-12 hours nimo mahurot ig byahe nimo sa road to and from El Nido and Puerto Princesa) >>> naay direct flights to El Nido! And we knew of that pagpauli na namo.
2. Bring mosquito repellant. Palawan is known for its great biodiversity. THE MOSQUITOES IN YOUR HOUSE/CITY ARE NOTHING COMPARED TO MOSQUITOES IN PALAWAN!!!
3. WAY KORENTE SA EL NIDO. The town is run by generators. Anyway di man noon need nimo magstay sa imong room kay maglaag man ka ana (swim, boat, snorkel, island hopping, etc.) You're lucky if you are able to book a decent accommodation in advance, kanang aircon. Kay lagkit (humid) ang air kon electric fan room ra ka, lisod matulog if anad ka og hangin/aircon lol.
4. Again, always book for a room in advance. Kami we went on impulse, coz we thought El Nido was as accommodating and as friendly as Boracay (arrived in Palawan a few hours after being in Boracay). So ma compare nimo ang pagka hamugaway sa duha ka lugar. El Nido is yet a slowly developing town, maski ilado siya sa iyang mga activities and beaches. Sad fact is mga residents ngadto mura ka halos i rip-off abi tungod daghan kaayo og tourists. 1000 per person per night for an electric fan room good for 4! Unya less than 1 meter ang free space sa kwarto. Bale we stayed in a house turned backpacker's inn.
5. we tried to find a fastfood to dine. But wala mi nakit-an, or maybe we didn't search enough. So we ended up eating kung unsay naa nga restaurants ngadto. lol I don't even know if they have a bank or an ATM machine. So always bring enough cash, coz not every business establishment has a credit card facility.
++++ side:
Daghan kaayo ka pwede mabuhat ngadto. If you want to explore El Nido, best time to go is summer kay way bagyo, malinawon ang dagat. And ang tours is good for 1 day. We only had tour A (naay A-D, uban A-E) tungod gamay ra among panahon but it was really great as in. kung gusto ka mu explore sa tanang tours, at least 4 days would be great, excluding travel time.
As our boat was about to stop at the Small Lagoon (manaog nami padung sa boat para maligo) nakasugat mi og ray (ambot sting ray ba to o manta ray.)
Though for me the experience was kinda eerie, coz it was a hot day then naa parts nga among naagian nga strong ang currents lol. I was afraid coz I brought my unchristened 4 month old baby ato nga time.
By the way because you are on the water for almost whole day unya medyo lagyo ang mga islands/lagoons nga inyong adtoon, lunch will be prepared by the boat boys (inclusive na sa bayad sa island hopping) magsugba pork, fresh fish, etc. (naa nay menu inyo pilian, the boys will bring raw food daan ig dayong larga) with fresh fruits. But the boat boys we had just threw their plastic garbage sa bas!!! Waaa... niay basura gatapok sa kilid, basura sa mga nangagi ngadto nga tourists. lol
