The new Centrist Democratic Party is inviting all conscientious Filipinos to become active participants in the political system. In order to put an end to political dynasties and other ailments of our political structure, the people themselves have to take an active role. The Centrist Democratic Party is made up of ordinary Filipino citizens and is owned and funded by its members.

CDP is anti-dynasty. As a matter of fact we are pushing for the passage of a law that will implement the anti-dynasty provisions of the constitution. We are not supporting our two guest candidates on the basis of their family names, but Koko for one for his belief in putting in place a federal form of government, and Bam on the basis of his being a young leader and his work in poverty alleviation. Both federalism and poverty alleviation are principal tenets of our party platform.

Federalism has been part of our platform from day 1. Related to federalism is the belief in the principle of subsidiarity. Other principles are the establishment of a social market economy, environmentalism, and the establishment of a parliamentary form of government.

Centrist Democracy used to be known as (and is still known as in some parts of the world) as Christian Democracy. But since the political philosophy is acceptable not only to Christians but to many faiths, including Islam, the name has been changed to Centrist, which is where we stand in the political spectrum anyway.
