Market worker, council aspirant clash in Mandaue

A CANDIDATE for councilor in Mandaue City was accused of slapping a City Hall employee.

Rolando Monteroyo, an employee of the Mandaue City Public Market, reported to the police last Wednesday morning that Expedito Masucol, a businessman running for councilor under the camp of Acting Vice Mayor Jonas Cortes, allegedly slapped him.

The police report said that while Monteroyo was at a gasoline station to buy load credits for a cellular phone, Masucol approached him and slapped him in the face twice, without provocation.

    So sue

Masucol, for his part, said it would be unlikely for him to confront a person bigger than he is.

“Just let him sue,” he said.

Masucol was with Cortes and the rest of their slate to campaign at the market that morning.

He explained that while he was approaching his vehicle parked at the gasoline station, he heard Monteroyo asking who owned the vehicle.

Masucol said he just tapped Monteroyo lightly on the shoulder.

“Ayaw ana kay madaot imong amo ana (Don’t do that because your boss will be put in a bad light),” he recalled telling Monteroyo.
