MODs please merged.. same topic discussed under AFP modernization in full swing.

to answer your question lestat.. YES it is VERY useful.. your thinking is that of our common politicos who think these are useless. YES, we still have the insurgency of the rebels, however we also have threats from outside. These birds are not entirely for internal conflict but for TD (territorial defense) as well.

To add: the helicopters you mention are way off the allocated budget set aside for "attack helicopters"; PAF are aiming for the "battle taxi" configuration. in other words.. an attack helicopter configured to carry soldiers as well. to be exact PAF are looking at these helicopters to fill-in the role of an attack helicopter.

AS 550 Fennec Light Military Helicopter

    Sokol Attack Helicopter

to note: after the initial step in acquiring failed for the Fennecs.. there is no update for the public right now. Just stay tuned I suppose..

@crisxahia: Wala ma consider ang Mi-24?

Technically semi-battle-taxi man iya configuration. Russian lang hinuon. Allergic ba ang AFP basta mga non-Western made na armas?

The four-engine turboprop P-3 Orion is designed for anti-submarine operations and for use as a maritime surveillance plane."

This is not GMA news reporting... ang GMA kay precise kaayu sa pag report in fact naka sakay ang reporter sa cockpit sa P3 orion...
