im a user of both models... i prefer d90, medyo paspas siya.. but if di ka ganahan mag gamit ug flash, mas taas ug iso capability ang d5100 pero medyo reddish ang sa akong nabantayan ani niya kung mo push naka 2000 up. mas ganahan ko mg lowlight sa akong d90 using prime lens. utong nalang gamay bro sa d7000 kay parehas daw ni sila sensor sa d5100 nya paspas pa jud para nako lang ni ha.

D90 period.. make the most out of the camera then save for D7000,. dont worry kay sa kani nga scheme di ka nag-iisa hehehe, next year if naay ma release nga bag-o mobarato ni ang D7000, kita nka'g daghan ipamaligya ana diri kay mag upgrade nsad ang mga tao hehehe..

D5100 jud unta to akong option sauna, but nakita nko nga maayo ang D7000 pero medyo mahal pman, so nipalit ko'g D90, and i tell you the camera is great, professional tan-awn tungod sa iyang top LCD, and a lot more buttons giving me the control i need..

mas choy ang mid-range cameras compared sa entry level, yes convenient and sometimes better IQ ang ubang entry level compared sa D90, but functionality wise para nko mas nindot ang mid range cameras,. you have better controls sa imong camera if ari ka sa D90 thus dako imong learning curve, kay manual approach ang iyahang design..

BUT! theres more! you can also choose D90 kay mas choy tan-awn! mas pro-looking especially with battgrip! and ofcourse it works well all around..

sakto ka TS... libug jud diay...murag wa ko katabang nimo.. ako mismo ga libug ko ga huna2x. hehe
dili man ka hinahanglan taas ug iso for sports and besides dili man gihapon ka kuha sharp at high iso like 3200 not unless full frame gamit, nya and tendency pa jud may noise and pixelated ang kuha mao ng wa jud kalabaw gamitan nimo flash.

much better d90 for the two nga imo gipapilian bro.

    D90 kay pang professional.

but much better for D7000, as what most people posted here...

if you are on tight budget, go to D5100. still a good DSLR unit. from advanced entry level to mid-range level ni nga unit.

Get the D90, its very old but more pro-level body maneuvering designed, and wider learning curve.

Being a beginner does not mean to use a beginner tool.

The better your equipment, the more youll learn in the system.

If you "can" afford to buy higher model than these two, then so be it.
