Question Inquiry on SATA HDD set-up (in series) using a desktop MOBO

    Peeps,

Ask lang ko ninyo. pwede ba'ng i-series ang SATA HDDs on a desktop mobo? Like sa parallel HDDs sauna ba. In one connector & header , duha ang ma butang. kita man gud ko'g SATA connector diri then max ug 5 HDDs in series sya. as well as, 1x5 HDD power connector and a 5x3.5" HDDs drive bay w/ 120 mm fan for its cooling system... to be installed in 3x5.25" bays ni sya. Mag search pud ko's google unya ani...

If ever pwede, planned to use this in my NAS rig...

    Thanks

thanks bro... for SCSI components na set-up na sya... ngita ta ni for SATA... no idea gyud ko aning for SATA man lagi if pwede ni sila i-daisy chain... naa man gud products para sa ani na set-up, so, pasabot ani, pwede gyud siguro...

mao ni ang actual products na akoang na kit-an ai... for server ni sya and for sure, gamit ni sya ug RAID card... maong nag wonder ko if pwede ni sya gamiton sa on-board mobo SATA header then software RAID through FreeNAS...

    5 x 3.5" HDD bay w/ 120 mm fan mounting...

    5 x SATA data to 1 x SATA header...

    5 x SATA power to 1 x 4 pin molex...

ok, had googled it... some desktop chip set supports SATA multiplier but, most of them do not... the HW that i posted above is supported by add-in RAID cards as it's application is for servers...

ah, back to the drawing board again... i'll just use the provided 4 SATA headers from the mobo... this case of mine is now officially CLOSED...

hinoon, the quad HDDs RAID set-up (RAIDZ2) is just a "nice to have (wants)" for me... even the RAID 1 is still a "nice to have (wants)" for me. in reality, my actual need is just a single HDD for back-up and storage since the data that i have and planned to be stored on my NAS is not that "critical"... for redundancy, i have copies on my data (work related) in 4 HDDs (stored separately) as well as on cloud computing as back-up. nag inigat lang ko aning redundancy project for my NAS dah... in-short, nag labay2x ug kwarta... it's not good... tsk tsk tsk... paets...
