Use debit cards. Why? Because with Debit cards you have more control over your finances.

Credit cards are very risky liabilities coz, just like debit cards, its so easy to use but unlike DC, CC requires mental effort to control yourself from overspending while with DC your are limited by a poweful outside factor, the amount of money you have in your account. And because DC requires a maintaining balance, you would not dare use up the entire amount in your account.

Credit cards only have a credit limit. Meaning you can buy anything you want as long as it its within your credit limits range. But you'll say "So? Its better then. You can practically zero yourself with CC than with DC.".
True. But here's the catch. Its a credit or its an UTANG. You're using the bank's money and we all know what banks do when we owe them money. They ask for interests.

With DC, you only need to load/deposit as much as you want or exactly the amount you had spend and you can do that anytime. With CC, you need to pay your credit on time or else you will pay extra charges such as late fees and more. So what happends if you don't have enough money to pay your credit card charges? That's when the "quicksand" sets in. What do we usually do when we need to pay something but we don't have the money? We loan. That's another CC situation. You still need to pay for interests. What if your loan was late? You pay your charges late. So you need to pay the penalty charges. In short, you will lose more.

So chose the debit card over the credit card. Its always the wiser choice.

I use Smart Money, it's a debit card in partnership with Banco de Oro. I used it in tandem with my mobile banking account registered in Smart. Smart Money is still active even without any account balance. If i will use it, i just have to fund it using my mobile banking and bingo, i can swipe it already. If it is being counterfeited, the fake owner don't have much use of it since the account balance is usually small and it is only funded if i planned to use it. Also, every transaction this card has entered to will be reported to me via SMS, so if is counterfeited, I would know and will be alerted have this card cancelled. It is also a mastercard product so, it is acceptable wherever mastercard is accepted. It is cash in a plastic and is safer to bring than cash itself.

But, I agree, using plastic as mode of payment is not good if you don't know your limits. card users should live within their means, it's the best.

Debit cards are more risky than credit cards when doing transaction online.. best thing to do is to limit your debit cards for cash-and-carry type of purchases.. credit cards, on the other hand, are best used for online purchases and over-the-phone type of orders because it offers much more protection.. be ready to pay interest rates especially when you fail to pay your monthly due on time..
