The completeness of the Gospel of Grace….. This link explains it in detail.Agree:
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mathew 5:17
Most protestant denominations today confuse the idea of destroy and fullfil the law they interchange its meaning but in the verse it’s clearly a contrast.
Completeness of Gospel of Grace - Gal. 6:11-18
I’ll again quote in his conclusion...” Properly understood, this epistle (Galatians) will always serve to subvert the inevitable tendency of man to allow the Christian gospel of grace to lapse into legalistic religious performance.
Sa akoa sad bro, dili baya sya confusing if we really understand Paul’s dispensation about the gospel of grace. It doesn’t suggest believers to continue living in sin because of God’s grace. But to live in the newness of life. Mura’g related ni sya sa Faith + works nga thread It’s very clear in the following passage of Paul’s letter in the book of Romans.
Romans 6
1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Imagine, there are 615 laws in the bible. 613 laws in the OT to protect the bloodline of Christ and in the NT Christ merged them into 2, these are: Loving God above all and loving others as yourself.
Matthew 22:36-40
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Matthew 5:17-20
17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
In verse 20, kinsa may nakabuhat ana sa atua diri? If we are obliged to keep these 600+ laws, guess what? Nobody goes to heaven. Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the law and the prophets and we are totally complete in Him. Therefore, we are called to live a godly life.
God bless bro!
