Default Daytona Washable High-Flow Air Filter for Motorcycles (Stock Replacement) - Review / Q&A

    Hello All,
I decided to create this board to discuss questions or reviews with regards to the Daytona High-Flow Washable Air Filter for Motorcycle (Stock Replacement).

This is directly related to the item I posted in the buy & sell section.
    https://www.istorya.net/forums/vehicl...placement.html

    Thank you very much.

    Here's my review/feedback:

I installed my Daytona High Flow Washable Air Filter last December 7, 2012.

After a 1 week of using it, I decided to post it here so that a lot of us will benefit from it.

Performance wise, it's like a stock airbox without airfilter inside.. acceleration and top speed is more or less the same as without air filter.

Dec 22-23 2012, I drove my Mio to Moalboal-Badian and back to Cebu that's a total of 180Km round trip.
Goin there it was quite wet and muddy while coming back it was dry.. this is what the Daytona High Flow Washable Air Filter look like when I checked it.

This is what it looks like from December 7 to 29 or 22 days after I installed it.

There is a slight discoloration due to the dust that it is able to collect but the material is still intack, no sign of burns or irregularity due to the filter exposed in heat from our trip to Moalboal.

The Daytona High Flow Washable Air Filter was able to screen small particles from entering the carburator. As you can see in the images below, there were foreign particles that was collected by the filter on the white bond paper after carefully slamming the filter to the floor where the bond paper is positioned for me to collect and check for particles.

Imagine these particles will get into your carburator and into your intake manifold and into your engine.. what damage will it cause it the future.

Note that this is just from Dec 7 to 29 or 22 days after the filter was installed. My next review will be after my next 1500KM and that will probably be Feb or March 2013. I did not wash the filter yet since acccording to my supplier I can wash my filter every 4000-5000KM or if I feel that it's clogged up.
So may plan is to wash it every other change oil.

Let me know if you have questions or concerns.

    1. Q: Is this Scotch Brite?
A: This looks like scotch brite but this is Daytona High-Flow Washable Filter made from high-grade industrial material that can withstand heat generated by the engine running and carbs grasping for air.

Review: I personally tested this material during my clubs ride from Cebu to Moalboal-Badian and back, it does not have any signs of burns or irregularities since its exposed to heat.

This is not a question or an answer but based from experience running engines without air filters for several years.

Those particles or dust did not came into your filter all at one time. With that amount, nothing to worry about even when you let them in to your combustion chamber. A fine screen (that can filter out sand) will do when you're really want to avoid objects to get in to your engine. This is to tell everyone that blocking unwanted dirt to your carburetor is a good thing. However, thinking such dirt like in the photo can do damage to your engine is an unnecessary thing to do. We have tested first hand running engines even in dusty environment without filters for several years, no damage to engine parts were observed when an engine was opened up (even on a four cylinder setup).

Just sharing how d product works based on my first hand experience with it.
i too tried running my mio without airfilter for several months for daily use and i did not have any engine problem... but wen i learned about daytona it seems like running my mio without airfilter bcoz of its high flow feature, it more on an investment for performance and prevention for future engine problem.

I started this thread for Reviews / Q&A regarding Daytona High-Flow Washable Air Filter product for future users to share thier ideas or inputs.
