    3-DAY FORECAST OUTLOOK*

    Tropical Storm Wukong (Quinta) is expected to move west-northwest during the next 24 to 48 hours...with a turn to the west through 72 hours. On the forecast track, the core of Wukong (Quinta) is expected to make landfall over Central Leyte, just south of Tacloban City later tonight and pass very close to Ormoc City around 2AM Wednesday (Dec 26)...and cross the northern tip of Cebu (near Bogo City) passing over Bantayan Island and Northern Panay on Wednesday morning til noontime. By Wednesday afternoon, Wukong (Quinta) may pass just south of Boracay, and move across the Calamian Group of Islands on Wednesday evening. By Thursday through Friday, Wukong (Quinta) should be over the West Philippine Sea as it exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

    WUKONG (Quinta) is forecast to maintain its strength during the next 24 hours as it traverses Visayas...and could strengthen slightly once it reaches the Sulu and West Philippine Seas.

    TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING: TROPICAL STORM “QUINTA”
    ISSUED AT 5:00 PM, 25 DECEMBER 2012
    (Valid for broadcast until the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today)

    TROPICAL STORM “QUINTA” HAS INTENSIFIED FURTHER AS IT CONTINUES TO MOVE TOWARDS EASTERN VISAYAS.

    Location of eye/center: At 4:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm “QUINTA” was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 90 km Southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar (10.3°N, 126.5°E).

    STRENGTH: Maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

    MOVEMENT: Forecast to move West at 24 kph.

    FORECAST POSITIONS: Tropical Storm “QUINTA” is expected to be at 50 km East of Cuyo Island tomorrow afternoon and at 320 km West Northwest of Puerto Princesa City by Thursday afternoon. By Friday afternoon, it is expected to be at 870 km West Northwest of Puerto Princesa City or outside the area of responsibility.

    PUBLIC STORM WARNING SIGNAL #2:
    (Winds of 61-100 kph is expected within the next 24 hours)
    Visayas: Eastern Samar, Western Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Northern Cebu including Camotes Island
    Mindanao: Dinagat Province, Siargao Island, and Surigao Del Norte.

    PUBLIC STORM WARNING SIGNAL #1:
    (Winds of 45-60 kph is expected within the next 36 hours)
    Visayas: Northern Samar, Masbate including Ticao Island, Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Provinces, rest of Cebu and Siquijor.
    Mindanao: Agusan Del Norte, Agusan Del Sur, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, and Surigao Del Sur.

    • Estimated rainfall amount is from 10 to 20 mm per hour (heavy - intense) within the 350 km diameter of the storm.
    • Residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under public storm warning signal #2 and #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas under public storm warning signal #2 are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone.
    • Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the seaboards of Luzon and over the eastern seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao.
    The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today.
