honestly, most anniversary dinners are not so much appreciated, as opposed to the dessert you usually have after. Everyone agrees?

To make a difference, you give her a treat that's the result of sincere effort. A short example would be... Instead of flowers, surprise her with a dozen balloons with ribbons and the words "happy anniversary" printed on it. Instead of wine, have a cocktail that's refreshing to drink, and not get both of you drowsy. Instead of a heavy meal, try a house specialty that's served for flavor rather than quantity. But let me answer your question.

    (1) Hola Espana is a very cozy place to dine. You can start off with their bruschetta, and polio al ajilio and paella for the main course. Finish off with any of their two desserts. With a glass of wine each, that should come out to about a thousand and change. Finish off your orders and let the food settle down, drive off to Z bar and order a couple of shots of whatever drink fancies you, enjoy the ambience, and finish off with a long romantic talk about how much you love her and how you've taken her for granted. That should end your fairy tale with a happy ending.

    (2) Go to Tides in Shangri-la and anjoy their buffet, and spend the rest of the night walking the gardens and maybe have a couple of drinks at Cowrie Cove.

    (3) Book a VIP room at Kagura Spa, (behind Kagura Japanse Restaurant along A.S. Fortuna) order from their restaurant and have it sent to the room, dim the lights and lights a couple of candles. Get the massage, soak in the jaccuzi or sweat off in the steam room , then enjoy their Japanese dishes in the privacy of your own room. The room will cost you about 600 for 2 hours (ask the attendant if they can extend an extra hour cause you're celebrating) 300 for a massage per person, about 800 - 900 for the meal. Don't forget the card that tool you the whole night to write on

I got tons more of ideas.. if you can be more specific, I can be of better help.

    Happy Anniversary!
    7 years bro.

ok i'll look into that. many thanks!

It was our wedding anniversary and we agreed to try Carlito's Way along A.S. Fortuna. A small place, fits about 20 people or so decorated with about 4 or so posters of one of my favorite actors, Al Pacino (actually, I was expecting more. After all, this place was named after one of his movies.) As soon as we sat down, we were greeted by a waitress who was eagerly awaiting our orders.

I got the Rib Eye while my wife got the Lengua and Mushroom soup for our appetizer. The soup was served, coupled with what I believe were Skyflakes. Surprisingly, the Lengua came with a whole lot of garlic, sauce and mushrooms. Not your usual Lengua but it still tastes good, recommended to be eaten with rice.

The Rib Eye was tender and juicy, cooked to how I like it, medium rare. The gravy isn't your usual mushroom gravy but it has a hint of mint.

The place is clean and prices are ok. Get ready to spend around P 800.00 or so if you're on a date. However, my only complaint would be the parking space.

    rating: 8/10

food-critic and chadix: I whole-heartedly agree with food-critic's statement above. Take it from a girl Surprise your girlfriend with seven balloons for the seven years you've been together. As an added personal touch, you can put a little note inside each balloon--reasons why you love her for example. Have it placed inside her room for her to see when she gets home from work or school. Sorry, I couldn't help commenting. I'm such a hopeless romantic

As for dinner suggestions i agree with food critic when it comes to Hola Espana but on the other hand when it comes to Shangri-La, I would recommend Cowrie Cove (call ahead to reserve table #54--the one at the end of the breakwater) or Acqua. These have a more romantic ambiance compared to Tides. Abaca is another restaurant you may consider taking her to. In the city, David's would be another safe bet.

    Enjoy and Happy 7th Anniversary!
