Ian: some catch light will do good on the portrait.
Its a rembrandt boss.
even with a rembrandt, you can still get some catch light.Originally Posted by Ian
I think the light is a bit too high. Remember that the masters used light from a window.
Though all the trademarks of a rembrant is there like the triangle patch of light on the
opposite cheek.
A bit lower could splash a bit of light in her right eye. And a bit of broadlighting would've
flattered her a bit more as well. Then experiment with the short side as well.
If lesser contrast is okay you can use a reflector or another light to brighten up the shadows
as well as get a bit of catchlight to bring more life to the eyes like pnoize suggested.
Oh yeah. Thanks boss got that. I was thinking when you said "Catch Light" to be like an obvious one. I checked my notes and prof noted to get a subtle catch light to bring out the eyes. Thanks boss for pointing it out.Originally Posted by pnoize2k7
abortretryfail, thanks boss. I believe you're right that the light is a bit high if not then there should be some catch lights, correct? I did fair setups with the loop light but having a hard time with the short light and the rembrandt (One Light setup). Thanks for the inputs and advice mga bossing.
actually... short and broadlighting is merely changing the position of the face rather than the light
when the subject's head is at an angle to the camera... short lighting is lighting the side of the face
away from the camera (the short or narrower side) and lighting the side facing the camera is
broad lighting (the broad or wider side).
basically it's just the width of the side of the face from the edge to the nose...
short side broad side
a.k.a "Window Light"..
Thanks boss..
I have to practice more with these setups. Need to get some good grades.
Tips needed. Thanks again.
