I would also say yes it is not necessary at some points.Because a degree without any skills and experience is almost useless. But there are some times in life when it comes to degree not the skills and experience are seen. But it would be admitted for financial benefits the degree is not as important as the skills, experiences and guts are required.

i agree that college degree is not really a necessity as long as you are armed with the necessary knowledge.. knowledge is not only confined to being learned in school. a lot of people are successful financially without a college degree..

i'd like to say though that in our country, it's very hard to jumpstart a career w/o a degree as very little people will give a chance to those who aren't college graduates. most of the people who have succeeded are those that have been in business but unless you're born with a silver spoon or got extremely lucky, it's hard to find the financial capital to start a business so to do this you need to get a job but most employers wont employ you if you havent graduated. it's kind of sad but its the reality of life.

i think that if we dont consider that, plenty of people will be successful. As long as there is the experience, you'll have a higher chance of gaining success despite being degree-less. Let's not forget that what's taught in school may also be learned when you're actually in the field. In fact, we learn more in the field than in school. Unfortunately, I go back to the paragraph before, you wont get that chance to experience if you dont have a degree as employers wont even give you the chance.
