    LEGO Series 5 Gladiator Review

Woot! I finally found this baby. Er, actually it was my daughter who found it. My wife and she went to Metro Ayala yesterday and I asked her to look for this guy among others and she did. Gitabangan siya ni Lenny ug Ivy sa Yellow Hat. I told her not to spill the beans na uyab to nako duha. Ha ha.

    Ang akong minifigure wish list

    LEGO Series 1
    1. Caveman - just so my Cave Woman has a partner
    2. Cowboy - just so my Bandit would have an enemy
    3. Tribal Hunter - just so my Cowboy and the Bandit would have something in common
    4. Robot
    5. Zombie - lots (just so my Hazmat would try to contain the contagion - which I would need more of if I find Zombies)

    Lego Series 2
    1. Vampire - Count Dracula for the win!
    2. Spartan Warrior - This is Sparta!
    3. Pharaoh - just so Queen Cleopatra has a partner

Lego Series 7 Galaxy Patrol Review

It pays to have friends in the toy community. My friend, blitzwing (a Transformers fan), offered to find this for me and in a few hours, he did. You see, he has many friends in the toy community as well

    Thanks blitz!

    Now on the review ...

    Design
    - I mentioned in my recent review (forgot which) that Series 7 so far had the most desirable minifigures - Aztec Warrior, Ocean King, and the Evil Knight and this.
    - There's just something about bulky armour and high-tech helmets that I find appealing - from Star Craft's Space Marines, Warhammer 40K's Space Marines, to Iron Man's Hulkbuster.
    - LEGO again did a good job giving him two faces, one that has an overlay of his heads-up display (or HUD for those of you who like 3-letter acronyms) and another one that has an eyepiece that probably connects to compatible weapons systems (or he could just be enjoying an electronic copy of FHM, you never know)
    - His laser gun is good enough as far as kiddie-looks go but I will definitely hunt for aftermarket high-tech guns for this guy. I hope to find guns inspired by Halo or Alien (need I say Colonial Marines).

    Paint
    - The parts that are supposed to look like chrome was done well. LEGO even painted his name, Wiz.
    - The paint application is not perfect on my copy though but as I've said in other reviews, this is a mass-market toy and this is expected. You really can't see these defects with your naked eye unless you have microscopic vision.
    - Sadly he has no backprinting (aka his backside is unimpressive).

    Accessories
    - I won't call his helmet and EVA armor as accessories as these are essential parts of the minifigure.
    - He only has a laser gun.

    Fun Factor
    - I'm a fan of this particular pattern of space heroes so I would definitely have fun with him. I just need two more of these so I can play with them. Shoom, shoom!

    Gripe
    - Well, I wish LEGO actually made an actual see-through plastic face plate just like what they did for Hazmat. This would make this minifigure an absolute must-have for every LEGO collector out there (if it's not already is).

Score: I have to be bias despite the gripe and give this figure a 5/5.

"I demand to see the governor! I can hardly breathe in this thing!"
    - Flash Gordon (imagine Queen's Flash playing, dhug dhug dhug dhug Flash, a-aaaa! Savior of the Universe!)
