Chief government peace panel negotiator and former University of the Philippines Law Dean Marvic Leonen has been named Supreme Court Associate Justice, the presidential spokesman confirmed Wednesday.

The 49-year-old Leonen is the youngest magistrate to be appointed to the high tribunal, beating the record earlier set by now Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

Leonen will fill the position vacated by Sereno.

"President Aquino views his appointment as a contribution to his vision of an empowered, independent, and reformist Judiciary," Lacierda noted.

With Leonen's appointment, four Aquino appointees now sit in the Supreme Court, the others being Sereno and Associate Justices Bienvenido Reyes and Estela Perlas-Bernabe.

Leonen is expected to serve in the Supreme Court for 21 years or until he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 70.

Unsa man nga case kuno sir ang gi appeal sa Supreme Court kay dili man puede ad2 ka mo file ug case Criminal or Civil or Plunder sa Supreme Court ad2 mana sa Ombudsman then Sandigan then Trial Court ....

may pagka rebelde ba .. kay NPA supporter man daw na ..

Ang JBC man nag hatag sa list, pili ra si PNoy.
Sa ako pagka alam based sa mga comment sa mga lawyers and mga political analyst.
Intention gyud ni PNoy mag butang ug mga batan.on and iyang mga tao sa SC.
Para nig end sa term ni PNoy, mag padayon ang justice,
giving headache to future presidents nga naay mga ill plans,
21 yrs divided by 6 yrs, nay mo labay pa nga 3 presidents ana gyud.
