It is interesting to see how a small beach party evolved into a respectable production that rivals Manila produced beach event and it happened in Cebu. IMHO jamaican nights lasted that long because it provided the venue where people can gather, listen to good music, drink booze, watch some skins and just plainly have fun. u say its not new, well jamaican nights has been around for quite a while so its definitely not new yet it still manage to awe newcomers. other beach parties tried to experiment on "new" and "refreshing" concept but where are they now? its not just the bikini show, the bands, or the technical stuff. its the people who go there and have fun that made it successful. the concept of jamaican nights struck the even balance of being sosyal pero dile snobbish maong masakyan sa kadaghanan. to quote their website:

"Encompassing all genre of music. Perhaps for the first time, the rock, pop, reggae, and club music followers have one common ground. People from all levels of society had a place and time to gather as one, thus Jamaican Nights has become more than just an event…

    It has become

THE ULTIMATE TRADITION…" - from jamaican nights website
yup. im well aware of the history of JN. been there since i was in highschool. good that newcomers are enjoying. but i guess IM just getting bored with it na. kay i've been going every year and last year didn't really feel like going coz i felt its just the same thing. maybe Manila producers had their reasons for not doing it again for the next year. and yeah...naunhan gyud ko...had a concept and somebody got to do it first. but its ok. anyway, if i recall there were actually some good "copied concept" beach parties back in the day that did pretty good. not as good as jamaican, but did ok.

i must agree, it's the same thing over and over again. if somebody could come up with a better concept then let them try. But what the heck! I never say no to a party, If you go there as an observer, you will definitely get bored. But if you go there to party, have fun and get wasted, then it's the perfect venue. Redundant as it may be, let's just be thankfull that there are people who come up with these events so we can party hard, while they get filthy rich! Let's all drink to that! cheers!
