The Oklahoma City acquires Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lamb, two first round picks and a second round pick from the Houston Rockets in exchange for James Harden, Cole Aldrich Daequan Cook and Lazar Hayward.
From GM Sam Presti: "We wanted to sign James to an extension, but at the end of the day, these situations have to work for all those involved. Our ownership group again showed their commitment to the organization with several significant offers," Presti said. "We were unable to reach a mutual agreement, and therefore executed a trade that capitalized on the opportunity to bring in a player of Kevin's caliber, a young talent like Jeremy and draft picks, which will be important to our organizational goal of a sustainable team. We appreciate James, Cole, Daequan and Lazar’s contributions to the Thunder organization and this community and wish them the best in the future.”
We will miss you James Harden..
Not a bad trade for OKC. Kevin Martin will fill the role of Harden and Jeremy Lamb is a nice rookie with his spot-up skills. And with two first round picks and second round picks next draft, that's a wise decision for Presti.
In the other hand, James Harden definitely fits with Jeremy Lin to provide the centerpiece of the Rockets.
Kevin Martin for James Harden? I'd take Kevin any day, great trade for OKC, hope he is happy to come and play for us..
I beg to disagree. Harden is a talented player all-around, Kevin Martin is a seasoned veteran who can score. Harden is one of the major reasons why the Thunder competed for the NBA Finals. Chemistry-wise, this is a major blow to OKC's Finals campaign.
For Harden, leaving a chip contender to become his own man in Houston is his prerogative. Plus he gets the money he thinks he deserve. After all, one would really think hard about 4-year $52million by your own team or 5-year $78million (probable) elsewhere.
This trade is a gamble by OKC ... Martin + Lamb . Well , it's a reasonable move by Presti cuz Harden turned down the extension yesterday . Better trade him than let him go for nothing .
trending man sa tweeter c HARDEN and KEVIN MARTIN..
OKC expects Kevin Martin to be a solid 6th man. Houston expects James Harden to carry the team. Which teams expectations will be met?
If someone read the news before the trade happened , they shouldn't be surprised .
With a Wednesday deadline looming for a contract extension for James Harden, general manager Sam Presti and agent Rob Pelinka have been meeting for the past two days in Oklahoma City trying to work out a deal, sources told Yahoo Sports.
Harden, 23, recently turned down a four-year offer worth about $52 million, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Harden, last season's Sixth Man of the Year, has been pushing for a maximum contract extension of four years, $60 million.

Harden wants more money but didn't even show up for the FINAL last season against MIAMI HEAT, harden is a max player no doubt, he deserved it! but he's the one that talked about staying and sacrificing. that's all im trying to say..
