My father used to work as a QC inspector and later on as a consultant all over the middle east and asia.

Seminarun unta about Airport/plane etiquette ang mga overseas workers before palargahun.

i agree with what was said, that most of the times filipinos were really loud and boisterous especially while waiting for their flights. Alam mo naman ang ating kababayans, they dont see each other very often but when they do, it is a mass of kumustahan and tsismisan, few joys that they encounter while working abroad. They may be noisy but still being called out in that manner and even with how things transpired when a Lebanese national defended them, is uncalled for. Racism, in any way should be called out and not tolerated.

Sabaan btaw jud mga Pinoys, mao na fav airport nako is SFO, kay mura ra Pilipinas, majority sa employees kay Pinoy unya lingaw cge ra ngisi and sabaan. I don't mind it coz I get it, pinoy gud pud ko. Pero other cultures, rude na para sa ilaha even if we don't mean to be, but still, being loud in a public place nga ma center of attention ka, that's rude.

i'm glad that the guy who made the complaint really went the extra mile to prevent this from happening again.. here's a copy of his email to MEAG's General Manager and the response as well...

as was promised by him I recieved a reply (below) from Mr. Richard Mujais, the GM of MEAG and I have written back to him as follows; I will update with the answer.

    Dear Mr. Mujais

Thank you for your call and the follow up as you promised.

As you can probably see my intention is to use this incident as a wakeup call for everybody (MEA or others organizations or even people at their own homes) and build positively on it for the better of our country and image and further generations.

I have read in the new papers (Washington Post, Associated Press, Daily Star and others) that “ an anonymous MEA official told the Associated Press that the female employee had been dismissed “.

As a matter of transparency in this critical issue (that even goes beyond the airport as we know) ,

    - can you please confirm so and the steps taken to prevent this from happening in the future (I and others do not believe this was isolated as we have seen it before though I am certain it is against MEA’s and MEAG’s policies) ?

    - as educated and highly ethical people with a certain influence on hand, can we please work together ( I will be more than happy to visit you and discuss) on ways we can educate, stop and also establish an accountability framework that is taken seriously by your good self in case of any future complaint ?

    - would you join me in an initiative to welcome back the foreign workers and make them feel respected and at home again?

I am certain you agree with me on above and I am looking forward to your feedback and to meeting you in the near future.

    Regards
    Abed

Subject: RE: incident at Beirut Airport

    Dear Mr. Shaheen,
This is further to my telephone conversation, where I explained that this type of behavior represents an isolated approach and is 100% against MEA’s and MEAG’s policy. It does not fit within MEAG’s culture, and furthermore goes contrary to our training procedures.
Severe disciplinary action has been taken.
    Sincerely yours,

    Richard Mujais
    General Manager
