Will peace be now within reach with this agreement? Both the government and the MILF(with th newly formed Bangsamoro) seem to find the agreement positive. What is your take on this?

If I remembered correctly, the ARMM agreement was also trumpeted as the deal that would finally set peace in that area--much like this one. But whatever. I kind of smell the beginnings of the Balakanization of the Philippines. The differences between MOA-AD and this one are almost insignificant that it is moot. I just hope they handle it well, and turn the MILF into a force that will be able to assist in the primary objective of the AFP (against the MILF/MNLF splinters) and I hope the region will not become an exploit by Jemaah Islamiah--but instead become a hindrance to its advances into the Philippines--by empowering local Muslim leadership in the area. This can be really beneficial for the GRP, but it can also easily turn into a situation where "sh*t hits the fan". It is actually kind of a gamble. I think mu-kisaw napud ning ILAGA, on the sentiment that the agreement encompasses areas that are as much seen as Christian ancestral domain as it is Muslim.

^^I think the statement was made within the context of the situation and conditions within the place, which is clearly the thought that most of the higher ups think they are above the law. @hulagway: dili ko taga Mindanao but iv been to muslim areas such as Cotabato City, Pikit, Koronadal, Midsayap, Ive been to Maguindanao also.. the first time i slept in Maguindanao was way too scary specially it happened few months after the massacre..

so in effect, i know how Christian feels when surrounded or is around Muslim communities..
