    but you have to understand that freedom without limitation is not democracy either... the cyber crime law... institutionalize libel in cyber level thats the provision that should be removed... i already received email requesting to remove my post on my other persona on my other blog.... ill say fck them.... i support the law except one provision and thats sec 4

    While Burma has taken the path of openness and freedom after decades of authoritarian abuse Philippines with this highhanded and ill-conceived law has taken a giant step backwards. These are dark times and I for one will seriously consider emigrating should the situation not change.

    Is calling someone an "a*hole" libelous (regardless if in person, or on the internet/media)?

    Libel does only apply to lies, doesn't it? So opinions are still safe? Meaning, I can still say I think Mr. So and So are a*holes, but on the other hand, I cannot lie about them being involved in drug trafficking.

    I believe that the complainant merely needs to feel maligned. You upset him or her and they can press charges. It won't take long for politicians to realize how useful this new law will be to them in silencing critics.
