PMMA donates 10 rescue boats to PCG
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) received 10 brand new rescue boats from the alumni of the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA).
PCG Commandant Edmund Tan elatedly received the fiberglass rescue boats as well as 145 life vests and 100 hard hats.
Most of the PMMA alumni are now professional captains, engineers and shipping executives. They noticed the PCG’s lack of equipment during rescue operations whenever Metro Manila becomes flooded.
Tan said the new equipment will definitely ease and help their future rescue operations.
The donation was made in part of the National Maritime Week celebration. – from a report by Dexter Ganibe, dzMM
