You can call it fetish pero it's also a recurring theme that resounds unsa ang gibuhat ni Prometheus, the Greek titan, who was tied to a rock para ipakaon sa giant eagles. Iyang belly was ripped open and his kidney was eaten. Pero because he is immortal, mo-regrow.

This belly being ripped open kay the same thing that happened to Jesus, when he was crucified to the cross, and the Engineers when they give life to the Xenomorphs.

The line that David speaks to the Engineer [which is from a longer sequence that didn't make the final edit] is as follows:

A serviceable translation into English is:

"This man is here because he does not want to die. He believes you can give him more life."

Which is a big slap for the Engineers because of the fact that they sacrificed one of their own to give life to humans. And here is their creation, the human representative and the epitome of greed and selfishness.

If you want to know Ridley Scott's explanation about this, here it is through interview, I forgot where I read this. So around 2000 years ago, someone was sent to earth but the humans crucified him. Turns out, He was one of the Engineers. This angered the Engineers because He would have helped the human race. So they planned on wiping out their creations (humans) using the black goo that they put into the jar. Of course this He was Jesus, and so goes the religious undertones throughout the movie (a "virgin" was spoken to by an "angel" (android) about conception, giving birth on the 25th, and splitting of the abdomen open as a form of sacrifice to save and give rise to a new race, etc).

So if this black goo changes into its fierce features when it mirrors the human's characteristics (remember Shaw when she exclaimed that they changed the atmospheric conditions within the hall of jars upon their arrival), this begs the question that there must have been a human who landed on the planet some 2000 years ago in order for the black goo to change and annihilate the Engineers' race.

You see there are many issues left for you to figure out. But what I can say is that if these Engineers created the humans and then decided to annihilate the human race using the black goo, but ended up killing their own race, then they are a bunch of double failures.

So if the movie and this element purportedly wants to depict Nietzsche's principle of the ubermensch, ergo, the humans are only the bridge from apes to superman (or ubermensch), and so if the apes are a laughingstock to the humans, then what is the human to the superman but a laughingstock as well. What happens is a U-turn from this idea because these Engineers if they are the ubermensch and they are depicted as a weaker race than the humans then they are no better than a laughingstock to the human race. I really don't want to buy the Jesus backstory and how the Engineers turned out to be, because it is a clear stupid writing mistake. But if that's what Lindelof and Ridley wants to say then be it. Pero bati. hahaha.

If this is the case nga naay ni-betray sa mga Engineers sa ilang plan, IMO, that would seem more disappointing. Kay it's tantamount to saying nga this superior race has distrust among themselves and would prefer to allow the proliferation of an inferior race at the expense of the annihilation of this far superior race, which is eventually one of the endpoints in the evolution of this younger, inferior race.

I think it's just one of the many loopholes sa plot, not to mention ang weak characterization sa 17 crew. It's an interesting movie but it's one where the ideas written were not thoroughly distilled.

daghan pa loopholes sa plot hinuon.pero i do think nga when the blu ray comes out and if naa pud extended or uncut version, i think it would fill lots of loopholes. nahan au ko sa story. i hope ila ni himoon trilogy.

I'm sure Ridley Scott has more rewriting to do because that premise is rather weak.

If the "Engineers" were not happy with how mankind was going along, why didn't they just show themselves in full force? why send an Emissary and most importantly why send it to poor Jewish family who had no influence at all? Okay so the Engineers, sent their emissary and artificially impregnated a female human (Mary 2,000 years ago) hence "Virgin Birth" and bore (half-alien) Jesus that got crucified making these aliens really angry is rather dumb. Second, if the aliens sent an Emissary ONLY 2,000 years ago, that will not make sense when (lets say) prophets older than 2,000 years foretold the Messiah and prophesied that He will be killed (thousands of years before He was born). I believe this theory is weak and the allegories will ruin the mythos not improve it.

My other problems with this film was that the remains of the Engineers the crew of Prometheus ship met on LV-223 were said to be designing WMD's the "black goo" and were destined for Earth to use it against us 2,000 year ago. The captain later says the the area is not their homeworld but a "military installation" there's hardly any proof this was true. He just assumed it was and were led to believe it. So the question comes; why would the Engineers leave clues (star maps) here on Earth from various cultures and time that would guide humans to a useless military installation? Why?

star maps were made before 2,000 years ago probably back from the time that engineers and humans were once at peace....my question is, if the engineers want to anihilate their creation "the human" why us a goo, if they are far much superior capable of travelling lightyears away. they have probably something better than a blackgoo....
