I think quite frankly that apart from the obvious manipulation of rather ignorant mobs by terrorists there exists a large number of extremely violent individuals using religion as an excuse for war against any who don't accept their beliefs. Take for example the imam in Pakistan who it was discovered (after concerted international pressure on authorities) tore pages from the Quran and placed them in the bag of a Christian girl to ensure that she would be killed for blasphemy. Where is the outrage about his desecration of their holy book? Why has he not been murdered by an angry mob? The hatred that we see is directed primarily against non-Muslims with Americans perceived as the ultimate target because some so-called holy men teach hatred and revenge above tolerance and understanding.
