It is your opinion that that was her opinion, and I can respect that.

But it sure does give you an insight on how the new Chief Justice thinks. She's supposed to be a 'thinker', schooled in law, philosophy and relevant sciences that are so important to the role that she has taken. She should have the ability to rationalize her new critical role and express it in a more meaningful manner rather than just say 'it is God's will". If we follow her line of thinking, then what do we need the JBC for? Why do we need to qualify candidates and provide a list to the President to choose from? Will 'God's will' absolve her if she reaches a point where her decisions turn out to be faulty?

    Respect is earned...

Makes me wonder how you end up like this when she merely say it's God's will -- a way of turning focus to lessen the speculations that her appointment was politicized. I knew that she got a grade of 4 on certain test but I will not believe she will depend all decisions in God's will. That would be pathetic.

and when its time to hand down a very important decision she will then say its God's will?

It is pathetic. And this showed in the mental test. It is so obvious her appointment was political and one would be so naive and ignorant Not to think so. So why say it is 'God's will?' Get real.

"According to the report, Sereno is “dramatic and emotional, she appears energetic and all smiles and agreeable, but with religious preoccupation in almost all significant aspects of her life." “Strictly confidential” — Two CJ nominees get low grade in mental test | Global Balita

Absolutely pathetic. Try something more logical in justifying the appointment.

Appointing a CJ will always be political since his/her appointment comes from the sitting President so from the get go critics will always associate her w/the appointing power that's a reality he/she must face but it doesn't mean he/she is beholden to the appointing power he/she can become independent after being appointed bec he/she doesn't answer to the Pres but to the entire nation! We may disagree about her appointment I for 1 since she is a junior compared to the other justice's&seniority&protocol should have been followed but it's still Pnoy's choice since his Pres&we are not we just have to accept it&hope for the best not only for CJ Sereno but for the entire SC we have to move along there are a lot of pressing problems ahead of us.............

Exactly. I would have appreciated it more if she explained her appointment the way you did, and not say it is God's will but because she is qualified and that the president made the right choice. Invoking God in the process makes one wonder if the Devil was also involved, after all it is in the Bible that even satan can quote the Bible to suit his needs.

From Mein Kampf- “Hitler wrote: I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord…”

    See the similarity?
